Check this out “Brake reservoir” is checked as good when the fluid level is low. I’m starting to wonder if going back there would be a good idea, what a joke man...

However, I doubt that they are now down below 4 mm from 7-8 mm, just 7,500 miles ago.

Bubba says they are most likely good for another 5-10,000 miles.

I reckon @Ultramaroon would recommend all new pads, rotors and calipers ..... he always goes first class.

@Tcoat recommends new pads ...... because he's in the brake business and most likely gets some sort of kickback ....... somehow ....... it's a balance of trade thing.

I said to have them check again not automatically to replace them. And we don't make pads at my sites.

I’ll take it back Friday and ask them to check and see what’s wrong, need that light gone by Saturday because I’m planning on trading in my FRS 🤡
If you are trading it in in two days just add fluid. Let somebody else worry about replacing pads.

The pads swelled up because they absorbed all that brake fluid ......

Yeah, mine magically got thicker between visits too. A service rep at Austin Subaru in Texas told me my pads were at 5mm. I took it to a different dealership for the next service, and they had magically grown to 10mm. 40,000 miles later, I'm still on the same pads.

I honestly don't think it was a mistake, but a scam at Austin Subaru. When the idiot service rep told me my pads were at 5mm, he did that thing unscrupulous car repair people do when they're trying to upsell you something you don't need without actually selling you something. He showed me the inspection form and pointed out that I had 5mm left on the pad, then stared at me, waiting for me to draw my own conclusions. That way, they think they can claim all they did was give you information, and you requested the service.

When I asked if they considered 5mm low, he said, "Well, new pads are 10 mm." He was trying to get me to ask how much a brake job was, but it was a ham-fisted attempt after losing my appointment and making me wait for four hours for an oil change. I told him I'd probably do it myself and save some time.

We've talked about the growing brakes phenomenon on the board here before. Apparently it's a common tactic.

Added brake fluid, and the light doesn’t come up anymore. Brakes feel better now too

Thanks everyone.
