On an NA car theirs no real difference between tactrix oft ecutek assuming you just want a simple tune for petrol or E85. logging then theirs a difference tactrix you need to know the ram addresses for each rom id parameters. oft guys sort most of the logging but their are some holes/issues. Ecutek its pretty sorted and you can log heaps more parameters like hundred. Definitions are in most cases way better. But that's rearly only needed for tuners, if your an end user it doesn't matter. Ecutek you can also do map switching and have say a track tune road tune E85 and petrol tunes all in same tune and switch in features in/out as you want no reflashing. Even switch in exhaust pops in/out. You can switch stuff with the 4 map modes or the VSC sport and TRaction buttons. If you don't make use of the ecutek extra features your wasting your money on ecutek. |

Should be getting an oft today and asked to have the 2017 maps preloaded. How can I make sure that the BRZ/FRS maps loaded are definitely the ones for a 2017? I don't want to brick my ECU or have any problems.

As noted in my earlier complaints don't expect it to come with the new maps even with a request. You will have to do the email Shiv route and pray for a adequate response time. The 17 maps start with a K00C, someone on here can email you a version that will get you by. That latest version I got from a forum member I do feel a bit more smoothness in the acceleration in the midrange with UEL headers. Just don't expect to look like this guy [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExeoxBYL9CY"]First Impression: UEL headers and OFT Stage 2 Tune - YouTube[/ame]. There still has to be a lot of power left on the table.

Well of course there were no tune files loaded even when he said he had loaded 2017 tune files for me. I called, and they picked up on the 2nd ring, and emailed me tune files within 5 minutes. Had to use a friend's laptop since I don't have a windows laptop currently, was trying to avoid that. Loaded the stage 2+ v3.02 and am driving on it now(stopped at the gf's bank right now). So far so good.

Oft will only let you load\flash maps\tunes with same calibration id as your original tune. You wont brick an ecu loading an incorrect calid anyway it jist wont run correctly, you can just flash corrdct calid back. But you dont need to worry with oft if wont let you flash wrong map if your using maps supplied by oft guys |

The next question I have is, after I wait the 45 seconds and start driving it, does the ECU need to learn before the car will make maximum power or is it as good as it's going to get right now? Running a JDL UEL header so I put on the stage 2+ tune. Don't have E85 in my area. |

With that tune the car does feel smoother in the midrange and less choppy with a nice linear pull compared to the first tune I used. But again don't expect "maximum power" until this ECU gets figured out. |

Throttle pedal will be a bit laggy for first 50 miles or so and ecu will learn some fuel trims but after that all good |

So tonight I drove around like normal for about 30 miles to the next town over to take the gf to target, then I dropped the gf off back at home and did about 5 miles of aggressive driving to see how it feels. It definitely feels better. Basically no torque dip anymore. It feels 90% gone. If it's only going to get better, then that's great. Revving from 2,500 up to 5,000 feels much more linear.

Anybody know why the 91 and 93 tunes are the same now? Seems like that may be leaving some power on the table. I have no trouble getting 93 in my area, so I wonder if it's better just to run the OFH 93 tune instead? Only thing is I have a JDL UEL header instead of the OFH, but they look really similar in design.
