720 Form GTF1 Stock Height - Wheels are on!!

So I have been shopping around for wheels and have been quite on the fence about what I would purchase. The wheels I have mainly looked at are the Enkei RPF1 and Gram Light 57DR.

To give you an idea of what I want these wheels for: I plan to eventually bring my car to a track/autocross(not just once either), but haven't decided on when. The car is also my DD and will remain one for a number of years. I am looking for a set of wheels that is very reliable, PERFORMANCE ORIENTED, lighter than stock, 17x8-9(edit1) ONLY OPTION IS 17x8 +35-+42 NOW, MUST BE BLACK(edit1) or DARKER GREY COLOURS and doesn't hurt the bank so much.

The two wheels I have listed above are the only two that I know people really like and stand behind when it comes to quality and performance, but if there is something that rivals these two for perhaps a cheaper price, then I would be open to new options. Right now though, I have seen the RPF1's and 57DR's as the best for price per performance, I am sure I am wrong though.

And before anyone asks, the only reason I am considering the 57DR's is because of the price difference from the RPF1's is a rather minor amount when totaled as a set(from what I have seen via FT86motorsport), and a slightly more desirable style.

Again, I am open to exploring other brands of wheels while fitting the price range and desired requirements of what you see here, hopefully a cheaper alternative.

So you can read the above, but I have since moved on from the RPF1 and 57DR as options. I have two new challengers, and my reason for bringing this back up is because I am getting very serious for the purchase as warmer weather is starting to flash us and tease us, here in the Greater Toronto Area.

New Challengers:

The ever so dominate force of the 720 Form GTF1 looks almost too good to be true, price is decent, colour is desirable and have proven reliable BASED on other owners input. Size is 17x8 +35, perfect.

Next, an under dog, little to no information on reliability and performance from any owners. The Konig Ultraform. Only comes in a graphite colour (gold is not an option), style is hella nice, size is desirable 17x8 +40, weight is competitive to the previous challenger.

Basically I want to know if anyone has experience with the Konig Ultraform, are they competitive? There has already been a decent discussion on the 720 Form GTF1, making it the prime choice as of right now. I'm also still open to any other wheels I may have missed that can compete with these two in all categories: Price, style(subjective, feel free to share any styles in desired colour/size), size, weight (this one being one of the most important factors).

Finally, I have come to a decision. I am going with the 720Form GTF1 wheels in 17x8 +35 5x100 (unless someone can convince me to get 17x9 before the end of day tomorrow).

I plan on placing the order tomorrow with a local shop for a whopping $836.00 CAD taxes included and shipping not an issue because it's local, but was included in that price. It only took me two calls to get this price, so it pays to spend a little time shopping around and making some easy calls.

Thanks to everyone who has given some valuable input, I literally wouldn't have come to this wheel decision if it wasn't for this thread.

I will update the thread two more times, when I receive the wheels and when I get them on!!

The 949Racing wheels are strangely close in design to the Apex ARC-8.. besides that though, when looking around a little earlier today, 949Racing while being cheap on the site I was looking, seemed to be lacking in use with the FRS/BRZ/86 crowd. A quick google search brought up older threads from a miata and honda forum, but there is seemingly no experience with the 86 and these wheels.

I have not done any research on Apex ARC-8 but now I will.

God I hate the RPF1.

For a much better looking (IMHO) alternative, consider the PF01. It's a little more expensive, but IIRC from the Enkei Japan site, it's actually stronger than the RPF1.

The hopes are to get the best wheel possible without being so cheap it begins to show in performance. I agree that the PF01 looks better, but from just looking around and reading in multiple places, the RPF1 seems to be the popular choice.

exaclty. i have these wheels and they are awesome! cheap, lightweight (8 pounds lighter than stock with 245/40 tires) and very strong. and they look good imo.

Does anyone have experience with these wheels though? I prefer to make educated decisions, maybe too educated, and for some reason have a hard time buying things that are cheaper in price because I'm scared of things being made for the price they are sold at, if you know what I mean.

I can count of the top of my head 8 vehicules I do time attack and lapping with using these wheels. From heavier STIs to ligher miatas, from street tires to full on slicks. I have not seen a single fractured or bent wheel. They are the real deal. They are also lighter than most wheels, and cheaper than anything remotely comparable.

I'm having a real WTF moment right now... These wheels are really nice looking and cheap/well performing.... I don't really know if this is real life. Right now these wheels are probably the top of my list considering how affordable they are

Yeah advan is a definite no go, much too high of a price I am willing to spend. The car would be an occasional track warrior, so performance per dollar and use may not be viable for my level of skill,budget and time, really do love advan though.

Sounds like you need more convincing. They are on my time attack car, which sees track roughly every week or 2 weeks max. I go over every possible berm on track, broke a set of wheels last year (cracked) yet taking the same berms these wheels stand up to the abuse no problem. 17x9 looks sexy when you have an agressive track alignement:
