I'm still keeping the TT RS. I love that car, the 5-cyl is so sweet and it's the last manual RS car sold here, so it's certainly special. But, I don't like to DD a 400hp mini rocket because I get frustrated when the traffic gets slow and the power gets old really fast if you DD it. I might eventually sell it but I would still like to keep it as a weekender for a while. That car really is made for long sweeping canyons

'Character' is certainly subjective and you might disagree with me, but it's just the way the engine feels to me overall. Sound definitely plays an important role (engine sound, not just exhaust). I felt the same way with my NC Miata. But the S2K engine always felt outstanding and it 'defines' the car. The engines in MINI (R53, R56 and current F56) also had very 'characteristic' engines IMHO (they broke down every week though ).

Then again, I'm by no means an automotive 'expert' so my opinions don't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

I really like how the engine sounds after all the resonators are removed...

The OFT tune made a big difference in how my 13 sounded, and has made a small change in how my 17 sounds, both for the better.

The 86 is a great daily driver as long as you don't need the space. You can rev the engine out for fun and it is pretty good, or you can drive it like a Corolla and still get over 30 mpg.

The engine is a bunch of compromises, basically they took the engine from the base Impreza and gave it a 50 hp bump with no torque increase. If you really are going to keep it stock might as well buy a 17 or look into the BRZ ts.

FRS/ BRZ is way more versatile then the Miata, TT , 911/Cayman, or S2K. At least you can get a fairly big item in the back by folding down the seats ( put a bike back there).

Not sure if you have ever been in a TT, but if you fold down the seats the rear hatch can carry a lot of cargo.

OK then, the TT and GT86 are pretty close then in that dept. Which gets better MPG ?

I mean life is all about checking what else is better out there... what options are at our disposal .... dump this, pick up that.... right?! Am I on the right track, or trippin :-)

Oh for what it is there is a ton of space, but it is a coupe, not a large SUV, minivan, or even a hatchback. Just that coupe profile alone makes it annoying for things like coolers and suitcases.

I suppose it depends upon how big/how many suitcases or coolers that someone wants to fit in. It's a small car to begin with. If you want more space, there will be sacrifices to be made (lower mpg), more weight
