Well, the guy I was quoting certainly doesn't fit that statement...but others yes. You should try disagreeing at Civic/RSX forums if you want real kiddie adventures. This place seems mostly free of that mentality.

I don't like the sound the starter makes. Hopefully they will go back to a hand crank for 2014.

Oh my god i love you for this post. I know right? Should we maybe buy a porsche or a lambo so we dont have to listen to that stupid annoying "makes me car sound cheap ie. like a 25k dollar car" sound? Im thinking yes. I could use a car bill the size of an ivy league student loan. Why dont we all buy an lfa. Then our complaints will be more justified because we will be vips with expensive cars that shouldnt sound like a crappy entry level car like the frs right? Jesus

For what its worth I noted the noise right after I got the car and wondered about it for a few days. I even made some posts about it. If a tsb comes out for it with a replacement pump or something I might go have it done. But the half dozen threads About this combined with obvious lack of searching for answers before sperging about what it might be.... Often times by "techs" with "decades" of experience just makes me take it even less seriously. I am a bit concerned about hanzo's experience with it getting louder. If I can hear it clearly through the firewall while driving I might change my attitude.

I don't really have anything constructive to say past that. And that's..... OK.

My point is, if i buy a car and pay a pretty decent amount of money down on it, why is it i have to be "surprised" by a noise that was not there when i test drove the car? It may not bother you, but it does me. The crickets are a pain in the butt, especially when im next to something. You may not have had anyone bring it up, but I have, and having to explain it as a "normal noise" has gotten me confused stares....

Everyone has their own views, but to me, chirps and squeals are not something I would classify as a normal noise from a motor. Especially a brand new motor.

Subaru: Hey guys, this noise is normal and won't harm the engine.
Thisthread: No it's not normal! I don't like it and I'm a self-proclaimed mechanical genius and know everything about all cars ever and I feel it's not a normal noise so you need to fix it! You guys don't know anything I'm right because I want to be right!

^ This is what you guys sound like.

Subaru: "Hey guys, this noise is normal and won't harm the engine."
Thisthread: "OK, I'll accept your lame excuse based entirely on monetary reasons", "also, I am in denial for no other reason than I purchased the car", I'm one of those people who defend to the end all of my purchases regardless of issues because I can't deal with people saying they aren't happy with MY purchase decisions"

That's another way of looking at it. The last part is a psychological issue found in most humans.

not to be a a-hole but i've been religiously following this thread. i wish the mods would lock this until someone chimes in with something productive such as service status update or even better an OEM solution and fix.

All this speculation and casual banter is USELESS!

I can't tell if you're either the greatest troll on the internet, or really this stupid. And despite all my posts up to this point, yes, I mean offense.

This has nothing to do with defending purchase decisions, this has to do with you guys spitting in the face of the people who designed the car and screaming, "Not good enough!" Your ONLY argument on why this should be "fixed" is that you. don't. like. it. Do you really not see how arrogant that is?

If they fix the chirping sound, are you going to complain that the DI tick is too noisy an you want them to remove it from your car, even though it's a normal sound? Or how about when you go over a bump it makes your knees hit the dash, they should fix that too? Or maybe you don't like the color on the dash, they should paint it for you? How about the fact that the headlights make a humming sound when they're on, they should make it not do that?

They'd tell you to go pound sand.

Pick your battles, bro. Demanding a resolution to something that isn't a problem is a waste of time, and reflects extremely poorly on the community.

The "issue" is basically resolved at this point. There won't be a fix any time soon. Demanding that Subaru and Toyota spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix a problem that isn't there is absolutely ridiculous. But I agree this thread should be locked since there's nothing left that needs to be said.
