I like the spoiler, but I think it's waaay to close to the trunk - So I'm building larger risers for the wing if you're interested in checking it out.

Here's the build thread and a couple pics from test fitment (it's still in prototyping phase) but will offer it for sale when finished. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=118428&page=9

LMK if you need a second car to prototype lol

That would be great but you'd need the original spoiler since I'm just making the risers for now.

It's a New York City thing. I live near Philadelphia and visit extended family in NYC every once in a while. One year, about 5 years ago, I first noticed one on a trip and I thought "What the hell is that rubber/plastic crap hanging off that bumper?" Then they were everywhere. I estimate 20 to 25% of New Yorkers have them now. I've never seen them anywhere else. Personally I think they look aweful, but can understand why you'd want one since city bumpers are usually banged up to hell. They have a bad habit of touching bumpers to parallel park, as though that were the proper way to do it. I think the bumper covers just encourages such behavior. If they flipped them out when parked to protect against other rude drivers it would be one thing, but most just drive around all day with them, telling me that they intend to use them when they bumper-park themselves.

As for the wing, I initially was jonesing for one on my 2017 86, but I've really grown to like the naked trunk. I still think about it though. If it becomes an official color coded option next year for my hot lava I might be tempted. Otherwise I'm probably just leaving it alone.

I'm also not a fan of the wing. I keep hoping someone will make a trunk spoiler that covers the wing's mounting openings. The 13-16 lip spoiler leaves a gap.

I'm a wing man. (that sounds weird in three or four directions)

I like the 2017 better than the 13-16 variety. The wingless trunk looks ok.

Just washed the car. Missed a spot on the under side of the wing.

They're in Venice Beach, CA as well. I used to work a block from the water and watched people bumper car into a spot regularly. Even sitting in your car and yelling might not save you, and heaven help you on street sweeping days. You're only salvation was a one or two car length spot between driveways, sadly few and far between.

I would love to be a guinea pig for this. This is exactly what I have been wanting to do, and it looks great. Let me know if you need someone else to try it out.

What you are saying is I need to invent a pressure activated pile-driver system for bumpers which target the tires of any car that bumps into yours. Root cause of the damage is always the other person so they'd be SOL.
