You should get about 10 runs. So just have fun and try to improve with each run. Before you drive, ask to ride with as many other drivers as possible to learn the course and how best to drive it. You can also meet a lot of the other participants, making it more fun. Then when it's your turn to drive, have someone ride with you to give you some pointers.

Sounds good to me, thanks! I'll be on the lookout for the twins owners so I can hopefully ask for a ride-along. Anyone want to volunteer for a ride-along or for riding in the passenger seat with me and giving advice?

No worries, I think I may be swinging by PTuning on Saturday myself. That's why I picked Sunday for the autocross, so I could get both in without having to rush around. Plus I figured a test and tune event would be a better idea for my first time out.

Thread updated for September 2nd, WALDORF!!

PSA: At the most recent CDC event there were some attendees who skipped their work assignments. If you attend a CDC event, please always remember you represent the FT86Club community and CDC reserves the right to deny you from participating in future events for this type of behavior

FWIW, to my knowledge no one from our community (86 platform) was guilty of this at the most recent event (or at least I certainly hope not). So please do your best to continue to represent this community well. Thanks again

Yes, long story short, I'm reminding people to do their work assignments.

Not just that, if a CDC Organizer tells you to do something (e.g. work or to stop texting while working), you need to do it for your safety and others. We had some issues from a repeat offender and now have to resort to denying them to ever return.

We don't like to be jerks, but we have to ensure safety. It's also not fair when everyone else works (especially when the offender is driving) and another participant doesn't work.

Here's the information on the next event...

SATurday September 2nd Autocross (Labor Day Weekend)

Regency Furniture (Blue Crabs) Stadium, Waldorf, MD is the location of the next CDC autocross on Saturday September 2nd.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 am and will promptly close at 8:45 am to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45 am. So if you arrive at 8:00 am you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the autocross is $30 for members and $40 for non-members at this event ($30 plus $10 charge for one day-one slot membership).

On-line Reservation System

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time at Capital Driving Club under the Schedule Tab. Open reservations for non-members for this event begins Friday August 25th.

New Members

We will be accepting new members at this event. If you plan to join the club at this event (with an annual members, not just a day membership), you may make a reservation at this time by doing the following:

1. Use "0" as the member number (a permanent number will be assigned to you after you join and you will get a temporary number for this event)
2. TYPE "I will be joining the club at this event" in the NOTES Section when making you reservation.

The annual membership is $30 and is good for 12 months from the date you join.

This event starts at 8am for Registration and Tech inspection.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me at capitaldriving@yahoo.com.

Due to the remnants of Hurricane Harvey coming on Saturday. We are cancelling the Capital Driving Club Autocross on Saturday September 2nd at the Waldorf Blue Crab Stadium.

I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Our next autocross will be at Harry Grove Stadium on Saturday September 23rd with Test and Tune on Sunday the 24th.

It turns out to have been the right call. It was raining so hard at my house at 6 am (the time when I load the truck) that loading the truck with all the food would have been impossible. At 7:15am (the time that the organizers meet to set up the event) it was still pouring rain, again making it near impossible for set up. In reality if we went on with the event, we would probably have to have about a 2 hour delay, then still autocross in the rain. Hardly anyone would really show-up, everyone would be cold, wet, & miserable, and the club would lose tons of money (and that's assuming we don't have an incident with someone getting hurt or car wrecking or property damage)!

Next event is up and I've updated the thread. Sadly, I will not be able to attend this one but that doesn't mean that YOU shouldn't. Have a good time!
