My first FR-S autocross

This Sunday I will be racing in my first autox with the FR-S at Carolina Motorsports Park in SC. I am a little confused on what class I will be running. On my FR-S I have 17x8 RPF1s and BC racing coilovers. Does the fact that I am running a wider wheel put me in STX? I have been reading through the SCCA rules and just wanted some clarification. Thanks for any help.

Yes, the wider wheels and coilovers put you in STX.

Welcome and enjoy the race. Be sure you turn off traction control for autocross (at least hold down left button for 3 secs until two icons show on dash, each time you start the car). You didn't say what tires you have, but if you have decent tires you will find that you can push the car through corners way faster than you think you can. The car is great at holding a line through sweeping turns and is very responsive in transitions between turns. Once you are comfortable with the car and the course is safe, push, push, push the car hard. You will be surprised how it sticks to the road.

I have done quite a bit of hard driving through the mountains with tcs off and I am very impressed with the car. I am running a 235/40/17 Yokohama S Drive on the car right now.

It most likely won't be your last; it's addicting! I did one with a few of my friends 3 years ago and have been hooked since!

As mentioned, both the coilovers and wheels put you into STX. You may be racing against mini coopers, mustangs, and bmws.

Make sure you walk the course more than once, if you can, and ask a seasoned vet to ride along with you so you know youre on the course/not doing anything wrong. From my experiences, the hardest part about someone's first autocross is being able to read and understand the layout of the course. I've seen many people (friends included) turn the wrong way and go off course. Have a blast!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the aluminum steering bushings will put you straight into Street Modified.

You're right. The aluminum bushings will place brillo in SM.

My first AutoX in the FR-S went well! I finished about mid way out of 50 or so cars. I really got to know my car and how it does by the end of the day. Now im ready for the next one! Oh and here is a picture! I'll post more later today.
