Yeah even if it's NOT the culprit, it's good to get it taken care of.

Closer inspection reveals that there is absolutely no sign of scratching on the hood. Only some little scratches on the Crawford unit (likely manufacturing or installation imperfections). Finished removing the sound generator and the noise is still definitely there. I'm gonna get under the car next week with a friend to see if we can isolate the vibration.

I'm glad that the heat shields on this car are attached simply by nut and bolt. Hopefully it's that simple.

Let me know if you guys have any other ideas.

Thanks!

Well folks, after poking around under the car, I isolated the vibration to the overpipe heat shielding. A long time ago, we had a problem similar to this on our ole-faithful 2000 Honda Odyssey and we fixed it with some tubing clamps. I tried it with my overpipe (pictured).

All it did was change the character of the rattle. Never thought I'd say this, but I think I need an exhaust upgrade to quiet this rattle down (perhaps some ceramic-coated tubes).

Otherwise, I can time try wrapping the exhaust.

Thoughts?

Any updates? I have a high pitch vibration at 4500rpm, but i'm not sure it's the same, because it seem to originate from the passenger side dash/door.

I'd just take the heat shield off. Most aftermarket exhausts don't have heat shields, so I think you would ok removing it completely. It will eventually rust and rattle like crazy until it falls off anyways.

I'm either just going to remove it or wrap it with some DEI titanium wrap when I get a spare moment in my garage.
