When the rattle comes about, is it while you're coasting in gear, driving at lower RPMs, or both?

No, it's the rattle/grinding sound that starts at 0:06 and ends at 0:08


The service rep called me and told me Toyota wants to inspect the transmission before replacing it, so if they deny the warranty I'll have to pay $275.

Take the service rep for a ride and demonstrate the sound. That should be free.
