You know, I don't know how old you are or how long you have been driving, but I probably have belts older than you!! I probably don't need more than my 50+ years of experience driving manual transmissions.

Anyway, I am looking to get a FR-S to replace my current road-racer (Supra) and that is the kind of driving I am talking about here (might should have stated that). In that case, I can use all my attention/effort on accelerating, braking and steering. On most courses I have one of the two pedals to the floor most of the time and am making steering adjustments all the time. And fast is good!
So no, an auto is not needed for highway driving but it works fine.

All depends on what you are doing. I will use paddles in an 86 when it matters but a lot of (other) newer cars have auto trannies that are extremely smart in shift points, up and down!

To be the person who casts stones while living in a glass house, I totally do the last one, my dad has a Mini and my mom has a Volvo and both have needed major engine repairs before they hit 20k, first time in my life they haven't bought American or Japanese (my dad did have VWs and Sunbeams long ago though and my mom's first car was a Renault Le Car)

Stick-shift/clutch is not required sports car equipment. If it was before, not anymore. Ferrari left that technology, Lamborghini did the same ... and Ford GT 2017, etc. Search and learn yourself. I am sure KIA stinger will have a semi-auto mode like all of the above.

And, KIA calls the car "sports sedan" which is pretty reasonable to me. I can see that it is comparable to BMW 4/5, Audi A4/5/6, etc.

Did you know that KIA's reliability is top notch? I am not a KIA fan at all but your prejudice made me sound like that. And I have no intention to buy that Stinger.

You're putting entirely much emphasis on braking. forget that and manual shifting becomes less of a distraction.
