No excuse though since he should know he can't see that area and be aware of what he pulled up to. Like Extra said he was more focused on forcing his way in on the cars behind him then who was in front or beside him.
Good point Tcoat.

I'm going to bring the BRZ to the body shop next week to get an estimate. I'll keep updating on what happens in case this helps someone in the future.

Thanks. I am very interested to see just how much that damage costs to repair since it is a bit different than the normal "smashed in" that we see here.

Looking back at the video, it all happened really fast in real life but when all this was going on, it felt like a long time. Time seemed to slow down.

I have basic insurance with ICBC and everything else with a private insurance. It states that any parts used must be from the manufacturer and not a knock off. (you can get this only for the first 3 years of your new car.)

I have a feeling it's more than $7000 Canadian. Parts + Labour. Body shop says 2 weeks just estimating with only info from a phone conversation. (Carftsman Collision). Subaru in Vancouver area does not have their own body shop. They contract out Craftsman. They got good reviews.... but anything could happen depending on that particular person doing the repair.

I hope your car turns out ok. You really are making want a dash cam. This one looks really really clear which is helpful in situations like these. Seems really stable too!

LOL. They misspelled "recorder" right on the front of their product.

But it looks huge, and their website doesn't show any pics of it actually installed in the car... Which makes me think it's probably huge.

I suppose, but I can't imagine it being bigger than your standard radar detector? Those should take just about the same amount of space up, but who knows. Maybe OP can post pics of his dash cam setup.
