2013 Frs Whiteout vs Dump Truck

Hello guys I've been lurking for awhile. I got my Frs just 2 months ago with only 7k on it. Yesterday on my way to work I was next to a dump truck loaded with gravel (ping pong sized chunks) on a side road going around 35mph. Road turned and he was over filled. I looked up to see probably 2-300 rocks falling towards my car. I swerved and missed most of them. I have a few scratches on my hood, door, and rear quarter panel all on the left side. Fortunately for me they aren't dents and are barely noticeable. I'd post pictures but the damage would not even show up. I'm thinking with a buff and heavy wax you couldn't even find the scratches. Guy didn't stop and didn't have a plate so all I got was the company name/# you can imagine they haven't returned my calls yet.

Insurance said they will go after them and worst case scenario I'm out my 1k deduct.

Now I'm planning on keeping and modding this car when I've paid it down some. So I'm debating on if I want to risk them repainting half of the car and it looking crappy. I figure it's probably not going to be the last time it gets a scratch. I honestly may just take the pay out and pay my car down. Estimates I've gotten range from $2900-4500.00

So what do you guys think? pay down vs get it fixed?

One of the idiots at one of the shops I took it to drew on the car with a blue pen to "highlight" the damage for his pictures. How should I get that off?

Is it worth attempting to get the company to pay for "diminished value" or can that only be done if there was an actual collision?

As my wife said at least I got the first "scratch" out of the way.
