Removing Keyless Entry system

Hello,

I'm in the look for a BRZ/FT86 ffor a project racecar. Their are good base options with mods I plan on buying, but the problem is they have a keyless entry.

The interior will be stripped down entirely and I don't know how the anti-theft system will react.

Anyone removed this system or know what issues I might face?

Depends which version. If it has a normal key ignition, the keyless entry is very basic and integrated into the ECU (usually).

The smart key style with a push button start has a lot more. There's multiple antennae that triangulate the position of the fob and if removed would make the ignition inoperable.

Is there a way to eliminate all anti-theft and safety systems to avoid limp-mode and starting issues? It will be a cup car and will be on a trailer from and to the track.

Basically I just want the ECU to manage the powertrain, beside that nothing is needed.

Doubtful in such a modern car where there are multiple ECU's that all talk to each other. IIRC most of the cars that wanted to go that route went standalone.

Anyone know any racing teams or guys that have dedicated racecars on this forum?

Haltech will cost about $2.5k. I'd rather spend that on other stuff since the mod list almost is more expensive than the damn car

If you you will find plenty of race teams on here and I'm sure they've faced your same challenges. Element Tuning, Racecomp Engineering, CSG, the list goes on. Do a little research and you will find your answers.

They don't all have push to start... Since you haven't found a car yet, just get a base model without push to start. Problem solved, or am I missing something?

The keyless system goes through the instrument cluster, body control module. and the ecm. And that's just on a non-smart system. I gets even more complex on a smart system.

My dilemma is that I found a for a good price that already has some costly mods I was planning on getting (and the right color, I'm a child I know) but has a push start button.
A lot of the cars on the market have a push-start button in my country

Another issue I just read about, someone was put to limp-mod for having an airbag issue. That's something I have to remove, is there a way to bypass all other systems and just use the ECU?

I've been trying to get a hold of many race teams, they either don't answer or their main guys are busy on a customer's car. So, any help will do

Is it that much of a hindrance to leave the keyless electronics in place? We can't be talking much more than 5 lbs here right?

I can work with it. But if it's possible to remove it, then less headache in the future ... maybe?

you want to build a full track car but don't want to spend money on a stand alone because its too expensive? sounds like race car hobby isnt for you.

Some people tend to count everything when having a second race car and a new business.
But hey, let me just spend $2500 on something I don't really need so I can make some mike on the internet happy

Call Bill or Zach at Delicious Tuning if I Remember right they knew some one that stripped the harness down to bare minimums. and deleted a ton of stuff. Maybe Anthony or Michelle at GRRR Racing could help but to be honest I would just leave it in.
If it was the ABS or airbags I could see it but the antitheft stuff on this car is pretty massive
