I can't help but think all this talk about parts falling off Michigan cars is in large part due to all the salt they put down. Not that, that makes it okay to not require a periodic safety inspection. If anything, it's more reason that one should be required.

I just don't like the d!cktards, never against the car itself (to.each it's own). I've met tons of GT86 drivers around these parts; none generally bothersome, maybe a few Civics (again, idiot drivers). Yeah, maybe if we didn't have Challengers, it would be Camaro or Mustang drivers.

Taking your comment to another level, maybe we should ride bicycles instead of cars. That'd be way safer.

Not my experience in NY State back in the 70s. I remember my dad flunking for some pretty obscure but legitimate stuff. I don't remember the details but I do remember my dad not being upset about it, which was a real tell.

10 years and >90k miles driven in a state without safety inspections, I've never seen a part fall off a car.

Shitty tires, brakes, and drivers with poor visibility (burnt out lights, dirty windows, dead wipers, etc.) are my biggest concern, keep a safe following distance and be aware of what's around you. No different than you should have been driving before, I doubt you'll notice any difference other than a couple bucks in your pocket and a free afternoon every year or whatever.

I have been hit by one that flew off a car from a state with no inspections. I have seen dozens of pieces fly off. Have you ever drive through Michigan? You will see a part fly off if you drive enough there. The closer to Detroit or Flint the more parts you will see.

What dozen parts have fallen off? I'm genuinely curious. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying that no safety inspection doesn't mean you'll be pelted with bumpers and hubcaps.

Come to think of it, I hit a bump in my girlfriends car and the hubcap popped off, and I've seen another hubcap pop off a different car, so I've actually seen two parts fall off cars.
