That would be electronic means still. Which is not the case. Via the video, the car is at the top of its rpm band, it is tapped out and there are no more rpms to go to push it further into the 170mph range. Unless you consider the ECU being programmed to not rev higher, then one can say its electronically limited. But that's not the type of limit people are referring to when they say 138mph. This is an example of a real electronic limitation.

Example. The tC first gen, will hit 127mph and is electronically limited (ECU actually closes the throttle body). If you look at the tach when this happens it is at 5k rpms. The car tachs out at 6250 rpms.

When you remove that limit from the ECU and run the car out to the top rpm, in the top gear, then it will run on up to 147-150mph roughly.

The next step beyond that, and where the Twins are so called electronically limited, would be to actually increase the actual Redline of the vehicle. Doing so will allow even higher speeds to be obtained above that 170mph.

Really? Your going to assume I viewed videos. Really? How do you know I saw the vids in the thread? I didn't watch any, Im posting from my phone. Im on vacation right now, I dont have access to a computer. Lol. I simply saw the comment regarding aero limitations and gave my 2 cents. Not everybody is going to read/view every video on every post.

I suppose. I just wouldn't expect any prius from any region to be achieving those speeds, regardless the price of the tires. I don't know much about these tires which is why I seem to be a bit more curious of their abilities. Nice to see that they can hold up! $200+ seems pricey for a 215 wide tire in 17in. Right around the same wheelhouse for a KDW2 in 275x19 for my 350 give or take some change. I assume they need to be shipped from Japan if someone were to get another set?

Nah, you can order them from tirerrack.com and have them shipped to your local shop for installation.

I wasn't saying that it was ECU limited (as you said, it's the electronically limited) but rather aerodynamically limited. I wasn't really paying attention to RPM and how far these people actually pushed. There are so many factors play here that can affect the top speed in the open road. It is simply much easier to achieve the "true" top speed of the vehicle on a dyno due to lack of resistances.

I only have video of the speedo because I didn't want to show my location but I guess it doesn't matter I'll make another video with exterior view as well next time.

Not that I am condoning these high speed runs but how stable does the car feel at those type of speeds? Does the front or rear start to get light? I have heard (read) a couple of people complain about steering feel and stability at highway speeds. You are doubling that plus some so therefore my question.

At higher speeds any car will feel a bit different with the dynamics with steering and stability but the BRZ felt solid nothing that made me worry.

Thanks for your concern!! I have driven a LOT of high performance cars all the way up to the mighty Ferrari Enzo and Bugatti Veyron and I am always extremely cautious when I push any car to the limit. I always respect my ability and know when I am approaching my limit or comfort level for that matter and never push myself beyond that point.

I am taking the car to the track soon to explore what this thing is really capable of I just need some better tires because the stock tires SUCK
