So even with the little mods that I have (invidia Q300 catback, invidia catless front pipe, drop in air filter, silicone tube) also I have an automatic by the way. The OFT will provide me with gains? I just watched an install video and it looks pretty straight forward. I just plug it up to the car, upload the stage 1 tune (thats the one I would use right?) to my car and thats all I would need to do correct?

They absolutely did not have this at the time of release. Did they come out with this recently?

I wasn't the only one that overlooked that, but... your claim they 'fail the cheat test' is unwarranted and bogus. They're selling a product that doesn't need a tune. The dynos I expect for such a product would be... you guessed it... not tuned.
I can say yes - your claim is correct, they're not showing tuned results. But they're showing equally tuned results of before and after, with some rigor applied to the testing, demonstrating effective improvement under those conditions. That (keeping before/after conditions as similar as possible, including level of tuning) is what most companies fail at, which is probably why I overlooked your condition that they be tuned. Sure, it would be interesting to see tuned dynos, but as Nameless has discovered, that's no guarantee of anything either... since no one seems to be able to quite reproduce their results. C |

So I am browsing around at intakes and the injen sp1230 really caught my eye because it uses the dry filter which I like. Has great reviews too. Anyone have any experience with this intake? injen is a very reputable brand as well.

Injen started as a ricer brand. Some would say they still are. I would do some intake searches on here if i were you. And trust me, last year i was you. I just stumbled into my perrin by pure luck and convenience.
I get where you are comming from though. The choices these days are overwhelming. Its the same reason i hate getting a drink at 711. Sooo many options!!!!

Before and after dyno is not so important. The ECU adapts to the new parameters and it is most important what is the output after some time.
Personally, I'll install next month a bigger throttle body. It is already on its way. I'll create a review afterwards. Last edited by nikitopo; 04-02-2017 at 07:04 AM. |

You can find used intakes on Craigslist or OfferUp for half the price of new. There isn't much to gain, but there is a little. The sound and look are added bonuses of an intake IMHO. Some intakes move the MAF sensor closer to the TB which has some effect on throttle response too.
I've tried 3 intakes and I've gotten them all used. The K&N with silicone tube is in my closet, I resold the WeaponR and I have an Injen SP installed now. Find a used intake and try it out. If you don't like it, flip it. |
