Louder exhaust/turbo complications?
Soooo. I want my exhaust to be louder (currently running MXP SP) it's nice and subtle but I want a more aggressive sound to it. I am considering getting a muffler delete which I'll try and have a shop somewhere custom make into a straight pipe axle back but want to keep my quad tip (same size as tip). also considering an electronic dump pipe which I cannon find a production one to order. But I'm mainly concern about the turbocharger back pressure wise or if it may even ruin the turbo down the road.
Any helpful suggestions or recommendation or opinion is appreciated!! |

Running a more open exhaust with a turbo is always a good thing. Freeing up the exhaust will help it spool faster.
That said, a turbo itself will quiet down the exhaust a fair amount over an N/A setup with the same exhaust. If you find the car too quiet N/A, it'll be way quieter with a turbo. I would just wait until the turbo is on the car to do the exhaust work so you're not doing it twice.

Sorry, misread your original post... I thought you were adding a turbo later.
A muffler delete will still be louder than your current setup, it just won't be as loud as an N/A car with the same exhaust. You shouldn't need a re-tune, but with less backpressure you might notice the turbo spools quicker/sooner.

I'm running running the greddy t620z with an exhaust set up with the mxp quads and it's very neighborhood friend.
On the other hand, my buddy has the edlebrock sc + uel header + stock front pipe with the same mxp sp and it's pretty darn loud. Might be better off getting an UEL header or if you want to keep the quad tip look, move to the Blitz because we have another local guy with it and it's a lot louder than the mxp.

Oh nice I'm currently running works stg2 turbo stock headers with both cat and mxp sp quad tips. It's subtle like really stock like sound level just louder on mid to high rpm but I'd like it louder |

Then I'd suggest getting a set of UEL headers and if that's still too quiet, I'd upgrade the front pipe.

I'd recommend an Axelback muffler delete. WORKS or Nameless both make great ones. I know you dont want to really change your setup but i know those both sound really good.

I cant imagine it wouldnt. I have the Nameless Axelback going to a WORKS midpipe. Unless the MXP has some crazy design (which i'm pretty sure its modeled after the Megan racing [or vice versa])
