Yeah, I'd sure like to be able to install mine. Still waiting on the gaskets... :/

Edit/Update: In other news, I'm still obsessing over the TRD carbon fiber aero fins. I'm literally having dreams about them.

Might do it similar to you. I mean, San Jose gets hot in the summer but not like Texas or similar states, so I probably don't need to go too extreme with it.
You can have any darkness/% for back windows in California. They just can't be colored or have a mirror finish. Fronts can't be darker than 70% I believe. Windshield can't be touched except for like the top 4 inches.

Maybe you can do 20% or lighter crystalline in the back (you'd then have better heat rejection than my car).

I'd get the 2017 tails before I get those. The turn signal just looks odd with a black housing imo.

Hard to say right now since I'm still in the break-in process and taking it easy on it. I have only driven it a handful of times but I have, on the other hand, driven it ~350 mi back home from the dealer (only way I was able to get it below MSRP). A few observations:
-Its a great car and I'm loving it so far, but its over hyped imho. This is the only car I've ever bought that I had not test driven (for reference, I've been denied by numerous Ford dealers for a test drive yet I was able to test drive an V60 polestar in the first volvo dealer I walked in). Dealers around me are still asking for $3-5k mark up, I even saw one for MSRP+$10k. No thanks...
-It's heavy.
-Lots of nice "gadgets" like Sync3 w/ adroid auto, etc. but really distracting compared to the BRZ.
-The recaros are nice for 1-1.5 hrs, but you really start needing lumbar support for long hauls. I had to buy a little pillow at a truck stop to save what's left of my back.
-Stock exhaust is nice, very deep and bassy, almost like an STI, but you do hear a hint of fake engine noise coming from the speakers.
-This thing is thirsty. Cruising on the freeway doing 65-75mph I was only able to manage ~22 mpg. Not that much better than an STI.
-It has auto start/stop, which really annoyed me at first, but I don't notice it anymore. I'm not so sure how long my starter would hold up, but I'm hoping Ford engineers took that into account.
-Nitrous blue is LOUD, and I like it.
-Lots of low end torque, fun for passing on the freeway, but torque is limited in 1st and 2nd, so it feels just as slow from stop as the BRZ (at least when shifting below 4k rpm). We'll see how it is after I try launch control.
-"Sport" suspension mode is ridiculous. I was bouncing around the freeway so bad I had trouble pressing the button to turn it back off.
-The trick rear diff takes some getting used to. I could only describe it as "anti-torque steer" where the rear would start coming out at the hint of steering input with throttle. Had a couple WTF moments while trying to pass on the freeway since the car would start to "wiggle" like a strong gust of wind hit it.

I am really enjoying the car, lots of fun, a turbo is a turbo... Needless to say tho, I still miss my BRZ. Tracking the VIN, looks like it just got sold to another dealer and it's heading to Texas...I bet on auction

Kinda hard to gauge based on the angle, but I'd guess a 60's-ish GT/California Spyder sans front bumper+ "grill" lights? Like the one of Feris Bueler's day off lol

Makes me wonder if they actually cut it or just take the parts from a salvaged FRS/BRZ and put it into a new frame.

Probably took a light apart and made molds to make black housing reproductions.

You can turn off auto start/stop. You can on BMW anyway, I'd assume the Ford dealer can turn it off too.

Also if you ever tune it, you can turn off the torque limiters for 1-2 gears. I know many FoST and FiST owners that have done this.

There's a button to turn off auto start/stop but it resets every time the car is started. At least it is automatically off on sport mode, so I just switch to that every time I hop in. I don't think its something the dealer can turn off.

Its taking all of my self control not to get a Cobb AP. It can turn off the start/stop, turn off the torque limit, have launch control constantly activated (it takes a good 30 sec to activate it and resets after every use or if not used within 20 sec of activation), get rid of the "rev hang" etc. This is what I meant by the gadgets being "distracting", the BRZ was dead simple and just "goes"

Well, yeah. You went from a car with a mechanical LSD and RWD to a computer with wheels.

You know it isnt going to stay stock, might as well quit waiting and make it more enjoyable to drive
