Telling him to can the attitude and stop expecting a law enforcement officer to not enforce the law may not always be polite but it is helping him. I think I'd have a little more sympathy if the OP didn't have readily available access to several less than $100 brackets that screw right into the tow hook threads so that he doesn't even have to drill holes in his bumper or permanently alter the car in any way. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a car that supports this. Order the damned thing, install it, take pictures to court, and hope they are lenient. If not, oh well. Should have spent the money sooner to save a fine later. |

Have you got tickets for anything else in the past? If so, that may contribute to the non-correctable. A clean record looks a lot better than someone who's been dinged a few times.

I have been driving for 10 years, this is my first time got pulled over for front license plate. Within the 10 years, not even a warning. My last citation/violation was four years ago. Unless the speeding from FOUR years ago can effect me. P.S i still insist, the cop is playing stupid. P.S I said that many times,, its not about money or I broke the law and suck it up. It is about he could have give me the fix it ticket, instead of the non-correctable one. If the law said, no front license plate, $100 everybody,no exception, then i shut my mouth and pay with pride. But this is not the case here. Last edited by FR-Sky; 01-30-2017 at 03:25 PM. |

Not sure if this might be a strictly Bay Area only thing.

From my experience, if you get a violation of veh-5200a on a parked car, they are almost always correctable, but if you get it in conjunction with a moving violation, they'll ding you, because they can say you knowingly violated the law.
Basically, if they can show... 1.Evidence of fraud or persistent neglect; 2.The violation presents an immediate safety hazard; 3.The violator does not agree to, or cannot, promptly correct the violation. That will be tough to defend depending on your specific situation. Good luck. |

Yes it can. I think DMV records go back 7 years, at least? Officer could've seen your past history and deemed it necessary to give a non-correctable ticket.

After you get this resolved, I suggest you get the stock front license plate bracket and perform this mod:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35261 It's held on by magnets, looks 100% OEM, goes on and off in 3 seconds, needs no drilling and is nicely centered (for those who dislike offset plate brackets). I put it on when parked in certain cities that I know ticket for no front plate. Usually it's in my trunk.

Yet no one has answered the question, what's the big deal with having the front plate?
I've lived in states that required, it and when I did I had one. When I live in states that don't, I don't have one (or a vanity one). No one seems to have a problem with the rear one, don't see any threads on "I'm going to leave my front plate on, but not going to put the back one on". For those in the US, at least it's not as bad as European ones. You have options....
