I'm sure they have more than one maid cafe in Portland.

Random Thoughts - Part Deux

The furnishing of the girlfriend's apartment is coming along slowly. Got a couch and a coffee table from ikea today. Next up is a TV stand and some shelving units. Need to get that done before I bring my big TV to her place.

Went to ikea, shopped around, picked stuff out, drove to her place, put it all together in under 2 hours. Not bad for going it alone.

Edit: still not sure I'm 100% sold on this "growing up" thing. Although, furniture shopping was far more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Probably because I knew exactly what I was getting and didn't need to screw around with trying to narrow options down.

@Cole It sure does. I went from window shopping TE37s and guns, to flooring and furniture.

Did everything fit in the tiny FRS?

Ikea is great if you are not looking into high quality fit and finish and ruggedness, at least their designs look right up there with the crazy expensive stuff. I bet most people have had at least one Ikea Billy bookcase in their lives.

I'm still dreaming one day I can finally afford a Vitsoe 606 shelving system.

The expensive furniture ripoffs (replicas at astronomical prices) they sell on King St East just piss me off I rather shop at Ikea.

It's an odd feeling. Now I'm looking less and less at car parts and looking more and more at house stuff. It's really for the best though, I do enjoy the idea of sharing my life with her, so it's a sacrifice I'll gladly make.

For sure. I just wanted some stuff to make her place a bit more comfy and livable. She didn't have a couch before, so we were always laying on her bed watching a laptop, at least now we can relax on a couch.

@ichitaka05 it all fit in the cab of my truck. I'm going to the office Tuesday-Friday this week, so I left the car at home. The couch would have been difficult to fit in the car, it for sure wouldn't have fit into the trunk, but maybe on the front seat if I reclined it all the way back and finessed it a big.

Gotcha, I was going to say, how the fck you fit all of those into FRS. I know you need to assemble em and all... no way those sucker fit. lol

With that said, I've fit ikea table in my car. Good thing, the table wasn't too long and it fit perfectly with rear seat down.

Don't discount the ruggedness. We still have furniture in our home that I bought from Ikea over 30 years ago, and that has been moved from DC to Florida to Georgia, surviving 3 boys. It's not in the main part of the house any longer, but it is in the Office and "Game Room".

Yeah, the box for the sofa was fairly large, and was definitely a 2 person lift. I had to get the gf to help me carry it into her apartment. If I had opened the box up, I probably could have spread all the pieces out in the car to make it fit, but then that would have meant 3 trips to get it all inside.

Either way, didn't need to worry about space since my truck has tons of it
