First oil change on FR-S

Well, since the 2013 manual has two different intervals, Normal and Severe, depending on type of use, maybe the manufacturer decided to change the recommendation to reduce the possibility of confusion, by going with an interval of 5,000 miles ......

Have you not been on here long enough to know that changing fluids way before recommended fixes EVERYTHING?


"I can't shift" Change the tranny oil.
"I poured 4 ounces of water into my coolant reservoir" Change the coolant.
"I have a weird noise coming from the rear of the car" Change the diff oil.


And my very favorite (an actual post):
"My car won't turn over and start" Change the engine oil.

i have an off topic question...
I have been using OEM oil from toyota....and my 36000miles free oil change is gonna expire.
So i checked on the ft86speedfactory that royal purple 0w20 is same price as 0w20 subaru oem oil, should i give it a try or nah?

That Royal Purple is the 0W20 which meets API SN and ILSAC GF5 as recommended by the owner's manual. Use it with confidence in place of the OEM oil.

Like car batteries they are both probably made in the same place at the same time.

RP is made in Porter, TX and Idemitsu's US plant is in Jeffersonville, IN.

But since there are only a small handful additive suppliers and the same with base stock suppliers, many competing brands are actually brothers or cousins.

Yep. There really are not as many basic suppliers for anything now. Where those components are mixed together really doesn't matter when they all come from the same couple of places.

As stated elsewhere, don't wait until 7,500. The recommended interval is 6,000. I'd recommend getting it changed a bit before that interval.

Also, I'd stick with the Royal Purple 0w-20 oil. You can order that and an OEM filter off of Amazon.
