I understand and appreciate that it may be people's first new car and they have dreamed about getting it for a long time but geeeez talk about going over the top. Can't wait to hear the screams of anguish the first time there is a paint chip or a bird craps on it.

I asked the dealer I bought mine from to leave the protective plastic on everything and not to wash it because I already had a detailing appointment set up with Rick at Unique Car Care. It's easier for a detailer to do new car prep when someone at the dealer hasn't put swirls all in the paint.

Well, I never did figure that out ....... I had to marry one of them.

I agree the car will never be perfect when you drive it. But why not prevent damage from the beginning? Some people get an enjoyment from having perfect paint

And that's OK ....... however, be advised that if you drive this car on the road, it WILL get nicks in the paint .... usually in the front, because it sits soo low. So, I suggest you emotionally prepare yourself.

If you don't want to get some big scratches on the front lip ...... stay waaaay back from the parking stops......

Yeahhh, I had to learn that lesson the hard way with my Prelude. Never did get the bumper sag out of that one.

You guys would cry if you saw the rock chips on my front bumper. 7 months old and 8200 highway miles. It's almost a daily thing hearing something bang off the car. It's life plus it will give me something to correct in the spring.

Or getting stuck behind a salter. No mater how far back you try to stay you hear the most soul wrenching noise as the salt and sand bounces off the bumper. The only way my whole front bumper will shine again is with a repaint.

One mistake I made was not getting a clear bra installed from the start. I get more enjoyment from taking my car to the track, than have perfect paint. However, I completely understand the other side. My BFF doesn't enjoy his GTR as much as he could because of bad roads and worse drivers. Different strokes.

That may be the case but a repainted car brings with it a whole load of issues:


1. Paint matching
2. Quality of the paint job
3. Why was it repainted? Is it hiding a horror story...

Yes, but it keeps the car looking nice until it's removed or damaged. Without paint protection, the paint chips get progressively worse until you can't stand it anymore and get it repainted. I'd rather pay up front and enjoy a chip-free bumper.
