New purchase, leaving car unwashed

Has anyone had trouble with their dealer leaving the car unwashed when they deliver it to you? I am currently expected to get a 17 BRZ at the end of January and I requested that as much protection be left in as possible and the car not be washed so I can take it to a local detailer. The dealer is saying they need to remove the plastic to inspect (understandable) and their detailing team needs to detail the car to further look for imperfections. This part seems crazy. How should I go about handling this?

Tell them exactly what you want.

Gave them a call just now and they are saying it is their dealer rule to go through and thoroughly inspect the car. Its Heuberger Subaru of Colorado and I'm surprised I'm having any trouble since I have only heard good things about them. I offered to sign a disclaimer that I will hold responsibility for all damages post delivery. He will speak to his manager and let me know. I didn't think having them do LESS work would be so much trouble.

I would let them do what they need to do as you want them to carryout a PDI and sign it off however before it leaves the dealer I would organise paint protection i.e ceramic coatīng or protective film to be applied before the car is driven.

Good advice! I am just trying to avoid any extra paint correction than what is needed.

No harm done in getting the paint corrected but get it protected before you put mileage on it.

I would allow them to PDI and remove plastic if need be, however I would request that they sign something and note on paperwork do not wash the vehicle. I have done this and I have also seen countless people do this as well, including leaving factory plastics on, it should not be a big deal. I would let them know what you want and how you want it done in writing and signed off by them as a stipulation to purchasing. I bet they comply pretty quickly.

I specifically told the dealer to leave all the plastics on, no dealer plate from, no dealer rear ad sticker. No plate holder in front. They didn't wash it obviously but I wouldn't even let them put my new car in the dirty car wash anyway. When i got home I opened the car like a birthday gift and immediately washed it, got the electric polisher and polished and synthetic waxed it.

Just tell them what you want, they will do it. If they say they must do something, tell them you must be there to see it in person and nothing is to be done without you there observing.

I told my dealer that they could only put dealer emblems on my car if we wrote my monthly fee for advertising into the contract. They declined my generous offer.

Thanks everyone! They agreed to not washing the car for me. Although I will miss out on opening up my BRZ like a present, I'm happy! Thank you all!

Alls well. Post some pictures when you get her.
