'tis old, i know, but the thread helped me with the translation bit, so i'll help it by posting before/after pics!



this piece is almost entirely cosmetic for most, though my reason is entirely functional. i'm tired of snow jamming/damming itself in that gap, and wanted it to make snow removal easier. i don't expect any performance difference, or care if it offers any street-cred for a jdm part, i just want the snow to not fall in the trunk after every time i clear the rear window.

+1 for the detailed instructions even if they're all in japanese.
installation was extremely straightforward using the rubber blocks to ensure equal fitment. just note for others-- don't set it up for 3mm as i did because the piece starts to overlap the bottom edge of the glass-- 4mm is a better minimum spacing as the instructions indicate.
-1 for product branding under clearcoat. i'd rather not have to deal with the TRD stamped on it, but personal preference.

I used a small piece of gloss black body wrap material to cover up the TRD with very good results (also not looking for any street-cred). It was great at stopping the small leaves and maple seeds from dropping into that void just under the rear window.

This is a great idea! I am in my trunk at least twice a day and curse every single time all the snow falls down in the trunk. I must get one.

Louver's help this problem too... hehehe my $.02 but the cost is extreme...

I would love louvers but with exchange and shipping to Canada even the cheap Ebay garbage ones are over $1,000. The real thing would require a second mortgage on the house.

Agreed, even with pretty much the entire TRD catalogue on my car the best bang for buck mods I have done were:
1. Armrest (hinged type after trying four others)
2. The TRD rear window stabiliser (or gap cover as I like to call it)
3. 25mm spacers to go with stock wheels (have changed wheels now but spacers made the stock SF2 wheels look so much better, even without lowering)

it was $212 off ebay, via hong kong. all the paperwork indicates it's a genuine trd component..

both nigeljdm and ft86speedfactory stock them as well at a slight price increase, though no one seems to sell a knockoff for any cheaper, otherwise i would have gone with the knockoff.

i did consider buying the louvers as well, but i've relocated my 3rd brake light, so it wouldn't be compatible

One thing to note is that you can't install the TRD rear windows stabiliser AND the louvres. You can't install both as the louvres fit into the gap as well. You have to choose one or the other - or neither.
