I prefer looks of these to those of Rally Armor ones. But these look like made of hard plastic. Given low car's ground clearance i sometimes use fact, that rear is higher then front, and go over some higher obstacles like when parking over curb, in reverse.
Question to owners of these stock mud guards from their experience - if driving over curb in reverse will or won't break these plastic mud guards? Rally Armor ones at least look flexible on that account.

If you scrap the OEM ones in the rear in reverse you are going to have bigger issues than the mud guards. The OEM ones are about level with the tailpipes as I recall.

Thanks for the DYI! Installed the FRS mudflaps on my BRZ today. I jacked up the rear and removed the wheels for the real flaps and just turned the steering wheel to full-lock to do the fronts. Went on super easy. It occurred to me while doing the install that it may be possible to do this without taking off the rear wheels.

You could use either the "melt the hole" method or use a handheld drill chuck like this with a stubby drill bit to create the hole for the extra screw pin.

... which you could then screw in with one of those stubby finger-bit deals like this:

Thanks for the great directions.

I added these and they look nice plus add some protection to the paint. Got them from Amazon. I pulled the wheels off, so it took a little more time, but made getting to everything easier. Plus, it was a way of double checking the torque on the wheel lug nuts.

Thanks for the install page, it was a snap. Just installed them on my 2016 BRZ, it's exactly the same as expected. I got mine from Amazon too about 60 bucks, OEM Toyota parts. Surprisingly the US Post delivered them on Sunday to my door!

Great write up.

I started to notice rock chips after installing MPSS. Decided to to install this oem mud guards. If this wasn't mentioned already, you don't need to take off the wheels. Just turn the wheels and you'll have enough room in the front. Instead of drilling in the back I decided to use a screw to fasten the one that requires drilling.

I think it's the manufacturing process but the fitment for he driver side is also off on mine. If I were to do it again I would trim it a little before installing.

Has anyone installed these on a lowered frs/brz/86? I wasn't able to order them on the car from the factory as I already chose to have her lowered. Is there a problem with ground clearance with these mudguards if your car is lowered an inch?

No concerns for me. Still plenty of clearance.

I don't suppose anyone has tried these on a 2017 BRZ? I just ordered a set so I guess I will find out. Most everything is the same on the cars so I don't expect any issues...

I wouldn't think so since the skirt covers the area where the mud guard would go.
