Agreed. You hit the selling point when you addressed my Porsche fanboy side. One company that used to make a full aluminum catback for our car (I think STS) used this method and it looked good.

This is accurate, but I don't care for the look of empty exhaust holes either so it just gives me one more reason to cut it out and really show off the center exit

So we do have some experience with our Porsche parts using "standard" tips.

We'll start looking into this method in parallel with the tip version.

I think straight tips are the best way to go. This was designed specifically to meet noise requirements for quiet tracks, so function comes before form. And this way people can put on whatever tips they want if they so choose.

GT86 is a fun platform rather than their main platform. You don't stick around in the Porsche industry long if you aren't good at what you do.

The original Perrin catbacks for the first gen USDM WRX had twin tips like this and I thought they looked great. They were about the complete opposite from this exhaust in terms of volume, but that's not tip related.

I actively dislike the look of trim piece exhaust tips. Give me a simple slash cut on the end of the pipe and I'd be a happy man.


As for FedEx... I just got the customs bill for my JDL front pipe the other day. $70 in duty/taxes and $75 in fees.
