We're getting 6 or 7 20-25min sessions for ~$160-280. My first track weekend at Road America was $405 for two days, with 2 hours and 15 min (3- 20min and 3-25min sessions) of track time each day. Not a huge difference, but definitely getting a bit more seat time for your money. Btw, those prices were from running with GPS, Track Time, MVP Track Time and Gridlife. Although Gridlife was slightly more expensive than the other two for $/track time.

Yes, I am aware of your cheap track days and for that I am envious. I assume the price difference has to do with the fact that we only have 6 months that we are able to have track days due to weather. All though, I would gladly pay for a winter track day with a few inches of snow on the track with a studded snow tire WRX. Up the esses at Watkins glen would be amazing...and down into turn 6 would be terrifying.

This was from my first track day, in April, this past season Side note: ZII* do surprisingly well when it's snowing at the track. lol In the winter we get our speed fix by racing on frozen lakes up in Wisconsin.

We get snow attacks up here in Quebec. Most tracks organize some kind of drift or lapping days with the track frozen solid with snow over the ice. Meaning very little grip but amazing slides.

Road America does winter autox/rallyx, but it's kinda tough since you're never really guaranteed snow. They do them at the Milwaukee Mile on the infield track too. One event this past winter was completely dry with temps in the mid-40s or so, and since nobody wanted to eat up their winter tires there were only about 16 cars. I brought my stock wheels/tires up, and did probably 80+ runs on what pretty much became a high speed autox course.

If you can go more frequently than that then it's a real bargain. If you can only get out once or twice or thrice a year then it's on par with the U.S. Barring those super cheap track days sharkbait gets in the MidWest. Quote:

About the only thing that's made moving out here from Arizona worthwhile. Well, I suppose meeting my future wife, advancing my career, and making some lifelong friends made it worthwhile too. But it's mostly about the "cheap" track time.

PNW might be a nice compromise. I remember looking at Texas (I don't think I can handle snow) but it looks like the entire autox scene is in Dallas, COTA is expensive as fuck and the rest of the tracks with turns are on the coast. |

We both really like Nashville though. Housing is cheap, fun place to live, and some pretty great race tracks within reasonable distance. I guess we'll see what the future holds.

just to compare;
In Australia I can get to track days at Eastern Creek for $340 (AUD) and Wakefield park for $260 (multiple sessions, about 1.5-2hrs track time)

I'm getting Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's as my track tire for next year, mounting on stock wheels.
Only do track driving, no AutoX, maybe a little bit of lapping on kart tracks. Should I go 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 (price is the same)? Thank you! |
