Anyone have info/science on these?? What is the purpose and how do they work and where are they installed??

 http://www.trdparts.jp/english/86/performance.html Looks like it replaces the stock solid beams in the engine bay with a damper-type mechanism. Seems like it will dampen frame flexing, as opposed to making the area stiffer.
