That's why I always stop at the border and deflate my tires when I visit my brother in Phoenix. Don't want to start WWIII.

Another rule of thumb is that most tires lose about 1psi a month, so that also contributes.

DANG ........ there, @MurderousPandas ......... I reckon ya'll down there in south Florida, don't subscribe to this:

PV = nRT

I'm figuring you either meant the tire pressure dropped 2-3 psi

OR

your air pressure gauge is stuck

OR

your spectacles are playing tricks on ya .....

I rotate my air every two weeks. Front air goes to rear, rear air goes to front, top off as necessary. Tires aren't moved though, that would be silly.

It was legit, on all 4 corners. I saw the light and was like "oh, just a couple pounds i'm sure", but no. Luckily an almost local gas station gives free air.

So, you're getting your air from a gas station that gives it away FREE .....

Like they say "you get what you pay for" .......

Yup, free air. Don't know how they have the budget, that stuff is hard to find.

It's FREE because they only use the by-product of an air compression process, where they separate out and usually discard the smaller molecules.

The smaller molecules can escape from the tire through diffusion, much more easily, thus the air pressure in the tire can decrease more quickly.

Where is that "SCIENCE BITCH" meme .....??

Interesting, didn't think there would be any leaks with the rubber sealed along the rim, but i'm sure the seal will never be 100% perfect on the molecular level.
They use the same pump others charge for, they just hand out coins instead. Maybe they got tired of people getting $2 cashback or something lol. Maybe those airless tires will fix it, but then you can't change your pressure.

Not even close. They go off under 28-30psi. My light was on with my tires at 29psi cold on a long acre gauge, which I'd trust more than whatever the sensors are calibrated to. I end up with the light on after almost every track day when I set the tires to ~34psi hot. By the time they cool down for the drive home they're down in the 28-29psi range.

IIRC they can also go off if any one tire is off by more than 5psi from the rest, but I haven't tested that.

Well, the air molecules "diffuse" through the rubber that the tire is made of, just not along the bead.

Now, if those smaller molecules, who have an inferiority complex, get heated up, they move faster around the rubber molecules, thus escape quicker.

Yep, solid tires would sure solve that deflation problem.

Back in my grandfathers day, they NEVER had tires with too low a pressure, nor did they have any flat tires.

Looking at some of these "low profile" tires on the wagon wheel sized rims, these kids put on cars today, it appears they are heading back that direction.....

In YOUR grandfather's day I am pretty sure they didn't even have wheels yet!
