I just have it crushed and buy a new one each spring. They are starting to take up a lot of space in the back yard though.

Get a hermetically sealed garage.
Be careful to not accidently get a hermaphroditly sealed one though since THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING (believe me).

I park it with a full tank of gas, drain the summer washer fluid (garage isn't heated), make sure the tires are properly inflated and park it on these http://www.princessauto.com/en/detai...le/A-p8588402e . Other than that, nothing else that I can think of.

Garage
Hey guys, i've read through the thread and have some questions.

First off, my car will be in a underground garage under the house so it's somewhat moderately temperatured although not heated per se.

According to what i saw most people say here i won't start it at all during the winter period.

Now, since i don't have an outlet anywhere near the car i can't charge the battery in any way, so i'm assuming it's best to take out the battery and charge it a couple of times during the winter and then put it back in when summer comes?

Are there any things to consider when taking out the battery? for example in my last car you couldn't access the radio at all if you ever disconnected the battery unless you input some code, does the GT86 have anything like that? I bought mine used so if yes i'd have to check the documents first to see if I got it.

I'm going to fill up the tank and have a question about those additives, i've never heard of them before so i have no clue which to get and how to use them, how bad is it to skip them all together and are there any easy guides as to which one to use and how much to put in?

Someone wrote that you should put steel wool into the exhaust pipes or wrap them up somehow, can someone explain why?

How important is the car cover?

The oil got changed 2000km (~1200miles) ago, how bad is it to not change it again now?

I'll be pumping up the wheels a bit more than they are atm and will be pushing, pulling the car a bit forward/backward every week to avoid the flat spots.

Am I missing anything? Sorry for the long post but this is the first time i'm going to store a car during winter and i don't want to make any mistakes

If the battery is inside and not used you should not need to charge it. Not a bad idea but not required. My boat battery spends 7 months a year in the basement and starts the boat first try, every time in the spring without being charged.

I bought mine used so if yes i'd have to check the documents first to see if I got it. Your car will need to reteach the ECM over the first 100 miles or so but everything else will work as normal.

I'm going to fill up the tank and have a question about those additives, i've never heard of them before so i have no clue which to get and how to use them, how bad is it to skip them all together and are there any easy guides as to which one to use and how much to put in? The additives are nice but not required especially if you have a full tank. You can buy them at any car parts store and the guys there can help you with questions on specific products.

Someone wrote that you should put steel wool into the exhaust pipes or wrap them up somehow, can someone explain why? Leave them open and vented. This is possibly a concern if parked out in a field with critters but even then that is a bit extreme.

How important is the car cover? Cover will keep the car clean but is not critical at all. I would go without if it was me. Just throw a good coat of wax on it.

The oil got changed 2000km (~1200miles) ago, how bad is it to not change it again now? It will be fine. Oil does not degrade when not being used and doesn't have a shelf life.

I'll be pumping up the wheels a bit more than they are atm and will be pushing, pulling the car a bit forward/backward every week to avoid the flat spots. Any flat spots you would develop through the winter would be gone after about 10 minutes of driving in the spring. Just bring the pressure up and leave it alone.

Am I missing anything? Sorry for the long post but this is the first time i'm going to store a car during winter and i don't want to make any mistakes You covered all the important bases. People get freaked out about storing cars and there are all sorts of weird and wonderful things recommended. The few months of storage over a winter will have zero effect on your car. It isn't like it is protected all the time when it sits parked the rest of the year. Now if leaving it for a couple of years that is a whole different matter.

Se bold.

Right, It literally cannot be done. You can say goodbye to your warranty, that is, if the car isn't totaled.

In Canada they void the warranty if you don't drive it in the winter. Says so right in the documents.

Thank you for the answers TCoat i will be finishing up the prepping today found some additive as well and i'm going to skip the steel wool then.

You're right and it probably won't affect the car as much as i imagine, but i'm a bit OCD when it comes to my car ^^

Update: Here she is, prepped and stored, thanks for all the info guys
