Really impressed with the final product! I was considering this for the shop FRS, but we are very fortunate to have one of the premiere cage builders less than an hour away, and I'll be having a weld-in installed next month. I will however be keeping this in mind for customers looking for a more "streetable" harness mounting option, this is also easily reversible, unlike a weld-in.
Keep up the great work though guys! |

I've been working a lower mount design that will attach the 5th/6th belts underneath the seat to a bar across the back end of the slider rails. The cross bar must be low enough to clear the seat rails as the seat moves to the rear.
Fabricating a bracket tomorrow, Saturday, I'll take pictures and post. |

Will the bar accommodate a seat back brace? It's hard to see how far the harness bar is from the seat. My seat would likely be close to all the way back. This seat back brace has a maximum reach of 12.5"

No series. This is just for HPDE for me. I am exploring all options for improving safety in my currently stock interior brz. One suggestion that came up is that if I do a half cage/roll bar that I also have a back brace if I plan on driving the car without a helmet, regardless of seat choice. I realize not everyone shares this opinion. What are your thoughts on driving a car with this product on the street?

For what it's worth, I would have no problem running one of these bars in my personal car, if I owned an 86 myself. We try to have a policy of never making parts we wouldn't use ourselves. Keeps things easier. ![]() Jake |

Driving to and from the track becomes an issue. I would lose the side airbags in that situation and the three point belt and airbag won't work the same as with a stock seat. I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to a trailer yet. Any advice on what you and your customers do is appreciated.

Oh wow this is fantastic! I looked very desperately for something like this before I bought my FR-S a few months ago, but found nothing. I bought the car hoping someone would cater to a dual-duty car.
Perhaps I missed this in the thread, but how long does install/uninstall take and how intensive is it? In any case, it will be much easier than weld-in ![]() I am VERY interested in this. Just looking forward to a few more pictures and a better description of the real-life process of using it. Thanks again for doing this! |
