That shock mount is a piece of nylon turned to locate the shock body central to the tower, the remains of my modified cv joint used to clamp the sti bearing and a black nylon ring.
It is there to hold the shock up to get the wheel in the right spot. I have machined towers to raise the top mounts.

Are you planning to mold out the rivet spots in the widebody or are you going to put rivets in them? The build is beautiful so far, just a tad confused with where you're going.

I hand lay everything, it's all FRP. I haven't tried CF yet, but will do one day.

I don't know what you mean Kiwis ? I will be leaving the slots in place but not using any rivets. The complete front and rear fenders will be FRP one piece items. Check out Ryan Tuercks Gumout car, you'll see what I mean

As promised, here's an update with a pretty pic to show you all.
The rear end is all cut away to allow a nice big diffuser to fit under the custom subframe. The arches are boxed in to wrap around the tyres and the insides of the cut out are parallel to the inner tyre wall. I need help deciding what to do with the bottom edge. ![]() The plank is just a building block.

This really is incredible work you're doing. I've been lurking these forums for months but I finally made an account just to be able to subscribe to and follow your amazing build. Keep up the good work man.

Hey there, been following this build for some time now, and I just wanted to mentioned how great it is to see this coming along!
As for what to do with the bottom edge, have you considered having the diffuser running across the full width of the car? The Speedhunter's Scion FRS that was built for SEMA seems to run a very similar rear end to your 86, and this was all they did:

The car will run a full width diffuser, but I was asking what people thought I should do with the bottom edge either side of the diffuser cut out. I have now decided it will be squared off and featureless. Hopefully I will have pics up tomorrow of the finished buck awaiting paint.
