http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/produc...estrictor.html

Flow increases with a square curve and can be interpolated by an area ratio so even without knowing an actual airflow value, we can calculate (R2xPi=area2):

43mm x .5 = 21.5mm x 21.5 x 3.14159 = 1452.19mm2
45mm x .5 = 22.5mm x 22.5 x 3.14159 = 1590.43mm2

1590.43/1452.19 = 1.095 (9.5% flow increase)

I just picked 45mm as an example to run through, but based on the % you want to increase, you should be able to calculate the restrictor area (diameter) you'll need from there.

And I guess I should qualify - increasing flow into the supercharger by 9.5% won't increase boost pressure by 9.5% because airflow across the intake valves is on its own square curve. But at least this will give you reference for what changes to expect.
Hi Scott

Based on your example, I tryed to see what we can wait about a new restrictor

Diameter mm......Surface mm˛......Ratio Vs Before.....Ratio Vs 39 mm
39......................1194,59
40......................1256,64............105,19%
41......................1320,25............105,06%
42......................1385,44............104,94%
43......................1452,20............104,82% ...............121,56%
44......................1520,53............104,71%
45......................1590,43............104,60% ...............133,14%
46......................1661,90............104,49%
47......................1734,94............104,40%
48......................1809,56............104,30% ...............151,48%

Without restrictor, what is the max diameter ?
Based on your example, a modification of the 39 mm restrictor to 43 mm will incrase the air flow by 21.5%.

Am I right ?

ID of intake charge pipe in V2 kit is about 48mm

without restrictor , V2 can make 14~15PSI .

you can use 43mm restrictor with stock maf & stock port injector.

but above that, you should change many things.

I'm running with V3+100mm pulley+FD4.5+weight reductions.
If you are not able to calibrate ECU for 100mm pulley with petrol, only last two options.

Ok Thanks Yobiwan

I already changed the spark plugs (HKS M40HL) when I installed my HKS v2 compressor and the Omnipower 3 bar MAF.

Now I think to change :
- 750cc ecuteck injector
- 43 mm restrictor, so air flow surface +21%
- ECU reprog with the Ecutek Kit
- 235/40 back tires and 225/40 front tires
- new set rotor/pad/caliper

I will drive with "Super Sans Plomb 98" available here in Europe.
The 3 bar MAF (Omnipower) will work ?

Some advices ?

How many PSI I will have with the 43 mm restrictor ?

Diameter mm......Surface mm˛......Ratio Vs Before.....Ratio Vs 39 mm....PSI
39......................1194,59................... ............................................???
40......................1256,64............105,19%
41......................1320,25............105,06%
42......................1385,44............104,94%
43......................1452,20............104,82% ...............121,56%...........???
44......................1520,53............104,71%
45......................1590,43............104,60% ...............133,14%...........???

47......................1734,94............104,40%
48......................1809,56............104,30% ...............151,48%...........14/15

HKS m40hl is same as ngk #8
You should use ngk #10 for FI (stock plug is NGk #9)
And that is hks m50hl.

@43mm restrictor , you can tune with your stock Port injector

Omni sensor is MAP sensor , yes 3 bar sensor will work.

Here is log of 43mm restrictor

You can see boost level.

Thanks a lot for your chart.
I see 10.xx to 12.xx boost (11.76), means 10-12 PSI ?

I will check with my tuner for the spark plug

I updated the table

i am planning on getting the v3 kit as well.
current engine mods are:
gruppe-s UEL headers and OP
stock mid pipe
Invidia N1 (catted)
mishimoto oil cooler
mishimoto radiator
mishimoto fans
mishimoto thermostat
perrin high flow drop in filter
OFT

planning on getting:
HKS v3 w/ ECU flash (yes, i know i will have to get rid of the OFT)
HKS spark plugs
radium dual catch cans

this is just for a daily driver/weekend car. are there any other supporting mods i should be looking into.

You need to change your Air Flow Sensor (MAF) 1 Bar to 3 Bars. example: 3 bars Omnipower MAF.
Add tires, pad, rotor, caliper, and all things to avoid roll

If you don't puch too much your engine that's a good beginning.
Else over 300hp you will need to change more things.

And Tires will depend if you do :
- street & rendez vous
- track
- drift (on wet track, on dry track, etc..)

Omni 3 BAR sensor is MAP sensor, not MAF.

we can use stock MAF untill 300g/s .
