OFT Overheat Problem??

Talking about the tablet itself, not the car.

It happened to me twice, both on pretty warm days. When I start the car and turn on OFT, it couldn't boot normally. Once it stayed at the boot screen forever and the other time the screen even gradually turned all white.

I freaked out, thinking that I permently lost this device. Then I realized the case was pretty hot. So held it again a AC vent for a minute then it booted successfully. I was surprised how sensitive to temperature it was.

Anyone had run into similar incidents before? Presumably OpenFlash doesn't mauafacute the tablet device themselves (correct me on this) so I guess there's really little they can do about this.

BTW I used an OBD2 extension with a switch so the OFT wasn't powered when the car was parked.

Oft goes into that weird white screen if power is turned on\off\on quickly, might be contact bounce on your extension cable. To get it out of that mode turn power off or unplug for at least 30 seconds then turn back on. Often happens if you wiggle plug as your connecting to obd port

Steve99 hit it right on the head. I think it has more to do with wiggling around while plugging/unplugging than it does the heat. I have gotten the white screen many times when plugging my OFT back in, and it happens only when I don't get the teeth connected perfectly and they wiggle.

Yeah I've had this issue couple of times with lose connection or from the heat. I tend to sit it in the back seat of the car if i know its going to be out in the sun light for an extended period of time.
