Balancing rear weight
From the OEM Audio+ threads about the subwoofer, somebody reported that the stock setup on these cars is 30lbs underweight in the right rear and that adding a subwoofer fixes the weight distribution in the car. Can anybody confirm? And if so, will it provide better stability?

I don't think so. The car is very good balanced with an average driver weight. Together with the driver, you have almost same weight in both diagonals.
weight(LF) + weight(RR) ~ weight(RF) +weigh(LR) LF: Left Front RR: Right Rear RF: Right Front LR: Left Rear EDIT: Check the weight of a stock car with a 175lbs driver here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...89&postcount=1 Last edited by nikitopo; 08-27-2016 at 10:40 AM. |

If you're 230lbs like me, go ahead and put that subwoofer in is my take. Good data from nikitopo, thanks.

if you already have adjustable suspension like coilovers, then get a corner balance. you can solve your problem without spending $1500+ for the OEM audio+ setup.

I'll take less weight over an ideal weight distribution every time.

That was me. Before:
![]() After: ![]() The car has TRD springs and I am 170 lbs. I didn't do the sound system to improve performance. I simply could not stand the stock system and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it doesn't hurt the corner balance of the car.. (it actually helps) More to the OP's question, I wouldn't expect a noticable difference in performance (good or bad) from such a small amount of weight. You'd get better value from refueling more often.
