How do you turn that one on?
@funwheeldrive @Bristecom I drive a lot of cars for my work and 85%-90% of the time they are manual. I can honestly say that the Twin's clutch is different from say a S2000 or a Miata(all types) but it is one of the easier clutch to get used to and drive. Now clutches that are annoying and have weird positions and are well he's how I feel so far the Z cars especially a 370 wtf is it so high Mercedes AMG cars, press it and hope the v8 power that comes after doesn't kill you BMW.... Good on some M cars kinda rubbery and annoying on Z cars mustangs.... Feels like the clutch on the G35 and Genesis Accord V6 ....for a Honda this is terrible Corolla XRS you're basically driving a truck in terms of clutch feel Lotus Evora believe it or not this also feels like a truck wait the transmission is from a Toyota truck. Camero...nothing nothing nothing OMG something.... Corvette C7 feels like a heavier s2000 Porsche 911 feels very heavy and strong takes a bit of effort to push down and relapse at the right position Porsche Cayman/Boxster heavier than a Miata but similar in engagement points Lotus Elise press and quick release there's not a lot of travel WRX hmmm it's like a longer FRS clutch but heavier a-little Jaguar F Type v6s you're not gonna care about how the clutch feels it sounds too orgasmic. I can keep going on....I'm sure there are some others I've driven over the years Point is compared too all the above, the twin clutch is one of the more easier to get used to fast. Wouldn't say a beginner car, I think and NB Miata are good for that role. I learned manual when I was 15 in a Toyota hilux lol off road Anyways all good points.

I don't think the 86 is difficult to drive, but for a car that emphasizes driver feedback, the clutch feel is almost nonexistent.
I still prefer it over most German cars though like BMW and Porsche. |

Went and test drove a 2017 brz today
my impressions 1 i liked the interior materials better 2 suspension was softer which was nice, but left me a little disconnected with the car.(still phenomenal don't get me wrong) i prefer the harshness of my FR-S. 3 car felt quicker having the smaller final drive 4 loved the steering wheel 5 brake feel felt better 6 clutch engagement feels improved as well over the first generation (to me it felt like engagement wasn't as high but it is still higher than when i prefer.) to me i feel as if there are tons of small improvements that aren't in the press releases as far as near limit differences (driving hard) i didn't get to test this as i kept the rpms below 4000. I dont want to go outside what the user manual suggest on a car i wasn't planning buying that day. I'm planning on buying a yellow series next year when it becomes available. I did get to take some 90 degree corners with some speed, turn in is definitely better. I feel like the radio was good and the back up camera as well, also, i like how there is a button on the rear trunk now.

Hey OP, you should check these videos out, they'll help you understand what's going on mechanically, rather than just being told what works and what doesn't. Congrats on the new ride - I haven't decided yet if the '17 is worth getting or not over my '13.

I test drove a manual 2017 brz today. I had a fairly spirited drive. The engine felt reasonably strong, the torque dip was not very apparent, its been a while since I drove a fr-s, but I liked the way the revised motor revs. The suspension felt great. I think the interior changes look really good besides the glossy section around the radio, it just doesn't match well, that's the only bad thing I have to say.
They said I could order the performance pack now, they are going to email an ETA on delivery. Last edited by varora; 09-06-2016 at 06:50 PM. Reason: added detail |

Hey guys, I didn't want to make a new thread, so I'll just post it here. I experienced my first traffic in my brz today and to my surprise it was hard to drive in 2nd gear. When slowing down (without throttle or brakes, but just in gear) the car will chug back and forth anywhere under ~13-14mph in 2nd gear. I thought 2nd gear should be able to tolerate that well since everyone says they don't go into 1st until they get under 5mph. Or am I wrong? And it seems like anywhere under 20mph is just too slow to go into 3rd gear. How do you guys do it? This is based on a 2017 brz btw.
