Anything can be put in if you are willing to throw enough money at it.
Whether it is still street drivable (if so desired), has any form of reliability at all or if there are even advantages is a whole different ball game.

It's not that it would be hard to put in. It would be no harder than any other engine swap. It's that some people think that because it's the same block and same manufacturer then it should just drop right in with no problems. Which it won't.

In RWD, with a transmission in the front...

So, they built an Infiniti Q50.

The heart of a GTR with none of the soul.

Seriously.

This doesn't hold a candle to the Prime Motoring build. Prime did some real work to retain the AWD system, which is a cornerstone of the design. I love the Prime build, even if it's not as polished, simply for that. They set out to build an AWD FRS and did it, and I applaud that.

These guys built a fancy Z-car on a budget roughly equivalent to the GDP of a small island nation, and for the trouble, they now have a Nissan V6.... Yay?

I don't mean to sound like an ass or trash their build, it's just the drivetrain is at least 75% of what makes the Nissan GTR and it's engine special. The engine alone is just another relatively pedestrian 60-degree V6.

The Albins sequential transmission and Motec-sourced pneumatic shifting is cool, but that could have been hooked up to any number of arguably much better engines.

This build is the spiritual equivalent of putting an Audi 4.2 FSI in a SW20 MR2 (the R8 V8), and then hooking it up to a RWD only transaxle. You defeated the purpose of the swap. Could have had the ultimate internet-hype unicorn build, (in this example, an AWD MR2). You had infinite money to do it with. And you built that instead.

Quoted from the linked "Full Story" build article, at the bottom of the Road and Track blurb.. "Primarily built ...blah blah blah... time attack and roll racing." Roll racing!? Is that real racing? F*ck that roll-bakery-racing bullsh*t real races go from a dig b*tch. You spent over 100 grand and you can't build a suspension to hook from a dig? "There will be sacrifices in all areas" clearly.

I understand what you're saying, I get hung up on the little polish things like that. i.e. it's amazing that they retained the AWD system. It truly is. But they can't make a straight up out-the-hood hater pipe? Are you kidding me?! What does that say for the attention to detail in the rest of the build?

It could very well be that they are a group that says, everything else is PERFECT, this one tiny detail can slide because we did a great job on everything as. As it stands? Unimpressed.

I don't disagree. I admit their execution was lacking in many ways. I just think their build had more potential than this... Thing.

Fixed it with my standard (and sometimes very unpopular) statement.

Yep and you may get 600,000 and never have an issue. The risk goes up but that doesn't mean you will. All depends on how much risk anybody is willing to accept

I'm not anti-swap, I'm just disappointed with the execution and the decision making.

...

...

Which swap is he talking about...?

...

...

Naw, that's awful. I'm kidding. Regarding yours, I like it quite a bit, and I'm very interested to see how the MRS thing works out.

ok. Good for you. I still have a factory warranty and don't have to even think about anything going wrong. Plus I didn't have to spend whatever money and time and effort it took for the swap.

IDK how I feel about this, but overwhelmingly the first thing that comes to mind is "meh."

I never thought the R35 was that cool either. Rocket bunny brings it down a few notches as well even though it looks like the "cleanest" version of the kit I've seen.

Glad you can see what I'm talking about!

I'll agree that the concept of their build certainly did.

Cool hardware, amazed they packaged it all, but it was too SEMA build quality for me. I feel like if they got the driveline and motor in there, and let Chasebays finish it, the Prime Motoring build could of been very cool to me.
