Its not really a torque dip.

Think of the torque curve after 3k as a torque mountain. The curve was headed to a FLAT, BUT JUST IN A KNICK OF TIME, BOOM, A TORQUE MOUNTAIN TO SAVE THE DAY.

I do think its is a matter of mindset too. Like waiting for a turbo to spool.
But an OFH and OFT do much to make me happy. An Axel back looks nice, and thats all thats needed. Some like to add an intake.
Don't try and chase a HP number (its a good way to lose cash, warranty and not add any real value) (When trading a modded car is suspect as abused). Just do OFT(or OFT/OFH) and enjoy, or just enjoy as is, the nice torque mountain you have.

If you think the torque dip is bad, go drive a Toyota MR2 series 1 AW11 with Toyota's TVIS system. That shiz was hilarious. Waiting... Waiting... 4000rpm ooo it's going to happen... 4600rpm WHAM!! TVIS plate opens and mad increase.

I miss that car :'(

Or the 7th Gen Celica 2ZZ second cam. Climbing up past 6000 RPM was like ecstasy. Falling below 6000 RPM was like being in bed with a beautiful woman but you've had too much whiskey and can't perform...

Best way to eliminate the torque dip

I like the torque dip... Lol

Even without the dip the car still won't push you into seats & wont slingshot you as soon as you press the gas.

It's a NA 2.0L engine. Lol

Get a Turbo car or giant v8.

Ps: I got full exhaust so there is not much dip... I know down low the pick up is better (much better) but it just feel slower if you rev though the entire range cuz there is no jump or power kicking in anymore. Just steady climb.

To me its more bang for buck.
That said I love this little car, my only real gripe with it was the cabin noise which I fixed the very first weekend wit ha full interior tear down and sound deadening install for the entire trunk, floor pan, rear wheel arches, doors, interior firewall and transmission tunnel.
Made a world of a difference.
Doing those modifications isn't so much about the numbers, but overall driving improvement.

If you compare a stock car to a car with those minor upgrades, it's a night & day difference.

The way the car responds throughout the rev range is what owners appreciate when doing those types of modification.

In fact, the best bang for you buck would be a stage 2 setup with supporting mods. (Tune, Header back exhaust)

SC Kit is not the best bang for your buck. One day for fun I did a break down on a HKS SC kit, with a custom tune and installation.
The price came out too $8000.00CDN....that's not a best bang for your buck. I could buy another car for that amount.

Wow $8000CAD is a lot.. but thats almost twice what it would cost me for a HKS kit installed. But duly noted, I guess difference of opinion, basic 5-15hp improvement of the power curve with minimal peak hp gain to me isn't worth the cost of admission.
And yes I did compare the stock car to a modded NA (I/E/T) car to a SC car..

We're not talking thousands of dollars here - if you want to improve N/A performance, buy a used OFT, pick up a used *quality* header from the classifieds here and you're good. For about a $900 investment, I purchased a used OFT and a used P&L EL catted header - make a pretty darned big difference in how the car drives. Gets a nice bump in peak power, but the real story is the nice surge in power over 3000 rpm vs a dip in power - peak power gains are not a good measure for overall driving dynamics.

If one cares about low rpm daily driving, one may also consider something like BPB spacers, to move curve optimisation at lower rpms.
As for track .. almost never rpms for me went below 4K .. so i don't see it being issue there too, due engine spending almost all the time above dip.

To me it is personal preference, I will down shift to the gear that will get me going if i need to overtake otherwise the torque dip is here nor there and spending 1k for used parts or 2+k for new parts to remove that dip to me isn't worth the price of admission.
I would just wait until i had the 5K to buy and tune a SC kit.

again this is my opinion and in no way saying doing basic upgrades is wrong, if that is what you want that is fine I just want more.

Fair 'nuff Definitely if you're looking for any real power FI is the only option for these cars. Just letting you know that you can transform how your car drives in a pretty big way (not just getting rid of the torque dip) for well under $1000, and those mods will compliment your SC kit later.

For those used prices I WILL take you up on the offer, I did buy this car to tinker with it on the weekend so i guess going straight to the grand prize of the SC kit may not be the right thing lol.

Tinkering is the fun part And your actual cost is quite low as you could sell an OFT and used header for close to what you paid. Just have to deal with the pain of selling/shipping/dealing with 'tire kickers'.

Actually FYI, caveat to my own advice - I'm actually in a bind with my headers as I have a Kraftwerks C38 kit sitting in my garage. The headers I have are long tube design which curve up in front of the motor a bit, and I'm thinking it's going to interfere with the Kraftwerks crank pulley adapter So probably going to have to pull them off and find another short tube header (or use the stock headers). I think this is only an issue with the Kraftwerks kit though due to the crank pulley adapter.
