 Apparently, the FR-S has an "active" release bearing (TOB). It runs anytime the engine is running. However, it just "works" when the clutch is pushed in. For the record, I didn't assign a specific name to the system. I don't really know if it's called anything special. It's a run-of-the-mill, self-adjusting hydraulic clutch. And yes, the TOB is rotating 100% of the time. ...unless it's starting to seize. Then it screeches.
