Yeah but you're measuring in CHP so that's like 3 USHP.

Get an Catless UEL Header, or catless EL header and then tune it. I noticed a pretty decent difference with throttle response and power.

With your current setup, you're not gonna notice any difference at all.

Even with a simple tune and no other changes, he can have a 10-12hp gain. I wouldn't do it, but it is possible. With the trd catback exhaust, the intake and a tune he'll be closer to the +20hp limit.

The tune will make more gains then anything else. Intake may give a couple more HP then jusg the ots tune and catback is good for sound only basically

Help me out here, if a "tune" can increase the power by say 10 HP, what is the downside(s) ....... except it messes with the warranty .... ??

If there are no downsides, why didn't the manufacturer do it .....

humfrz - far, far behind .....

As with most things these days; probably emission / MPG ratings.

The gain in HP/TQ guys are getting from just a header and tune is rediculous. Add E85 to the tune and apparently, by their words, its a different engine.

No expert here, however, from what I have seen around, I think warranty is the main issue, and may lead to some parts wearing faster than the planned part life from the manufacturer. Also, the manufacturer doesn't provide the tune to retard the engine, for I believe, legal and/or the warranty reasons.

The factory keeps the engine tuning a bit more conservative because you might not find always good quality fuel (premium fuel). Additionally, as mentioned already some parts might wear faster. The engine was not tested at all with this +10 hp increase. My dealer has no problem to install other components to my car (e.g., for handling), but he is strict on engine modifications. No chip tuning, no ECU tuning!

Btw., a tuned car might lose also more value. Especially after the 5+ year period ...

It absolutely is. Initially with my car, I wasn't going to drink the tune "koolaid", but I recently purchased an OFT and I am running their "Stage 2" E85 tune with a cheapy header and a catback exhaust. The car now feels as it should have from the factory. There is no more waiting for acceleration and merging onto the highway is now confidence inspiring. The drawback is the fuel economy, but I am still doing the math on mileage/fuel cost and I believe it will be about the same cost as running 93 octane. The only real drawback so far is I'm now on a first name basis with the employees at the 2 E85 stations in town

Even though I kind of like the spoilers (my FRS does not have one)... I am pretty sure they are net negative in terms of speed!

Enjoy your car!

Have any low-budget recommendations?

I forgot about "super acceleration mode". I still remember when I found that switch hidden in the passenger side foot well... I can see why the factory hid it there to prevent inexperienced drivers from getting into too much trouble! I keep mine plugged for safety reasons...
