I kind of can't help but laugh about this whole Toyota vs. Subaru badge when Toyota owns 16.5% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent company). Of note as well is that of all the major shareholders Fuji lists on there stock information page Toyota triples that of the closest other major holder of shares....so yeah, food for thought about badging.

People have nothing better to concern themselves with than Toyota operating a pilot brand noteworthy for monospec models that represent better than average value along with a one price policy.
My god, Subaru are the lower end of all wheel drive, Audi is better! Oh, and boxer engine? Pfffft. Porsche or go home! Now, if that sounded stupid then put yourself in the shoes of the many people here who chose the Scion model and read your rant along with a bunch of other brand snobs. Subaru is nothing to be snobby about. It too is a budget brand! Funny you never hear people ranting that Scion is better, you know all the little Easter eggs they put in the design, that stylized T pattern everywhere, hints of Toyota, the mid 80's RWD models many of us reminisce about, etc. I'm not saying Toyota has the deep autosports history Subaru does, and of course the twins have design elements referencing past sports models of... Toyota. Side rear window shape, hood line, roof line, like 2000GT and S800. Subaru XT- no reference anywhere Subrau SVX- no reference anywhere Subaru WRX - no reference anywhere Looks like y'all bought a Toyota, um I mean Scion, that Subaru was able to badge engineer for themselves. Umm, are there any classic design details that harken references to Subaru's motorsports heritage? Exactly. Hachi roku power!

Who gives a rat's ass about a name anyway? This is my second Scion and I couldn't care less whether it's called Toyota or Scion.
As for motorsports heritage, Subaru used to do rallies and was a good car for that for years. Now they do nothing except for a non-factory effort in the BTCC. Toyota has a privateer in BTCC as well, they had a F1 team, they back the Toyota Finance GT86 Series and they used to participate in rallying and they were pretty good too until they cheated and they have a full factory effort in the WEC. Whether it's called Scion or Toyota means nothing, Toyota has quite a history of racing- Subaru.. eh, not so much. Besides, it's the same damn car no matter what it's called so who cares? |
