I meant from the extra rolling resistance of a 245 or 255 tire vs stock 215.

Ahh, yeah, well you get that even if you go 215 and a tire that has grip haha. But yeah I am sure my 245 PSS have a shit ton more rolling resistance than my 215 Eco tires did =)

Acceleration will be effected. If you've done bolt-ons you might be at a wash or maybe still slightly ahead, relative to a stock car, after moving up to either a larger wheel or wider tire. Basically, without mods to get significantly more power out of the car a stock car with a better than stock tire, but in the same size as stock, will likely both out accelerate in a straight line and get a faster lap time at a twisty track or auto-x than a car with a wider 17" rim (even if it's lighter than stock), and wider 17" tire, or 18" rim if the tire is also wider than stock. Those skinny TRD or STI forged rims are likely performance upgrades even on the stock car because despite being 18" they're lighter and the tire is likely lighter than stock as well, by virtue of having shorter sidewall and no significant increase in rubber width for the same diameter, if that makes sense.

Versus stock tires, my car was ~5-10 mph faster exiting "Big Bend" (onto the longest straight at Shenandoah Circuit @ Summit Point) with 245 RE-71Rs but was only ~1mph faster at the end of the straight, plus I was braking ~50 feet later... It's a short straight too, right around 1/4 mile from corner exit to braking zone.
I'd say the wider rubber makes a VERY noticeable difference.

Versus stock sized RE-71Rs or versus stock Primacies? There is BIG difference, to reason with just tire width.

I am using a 5mm spacer up front...and my car is not stock. The offset/spacer choice is based on the recommendation of the previous owner...I think the front wheel was contacting the swaybar or some other suspension component at full lock without the spacer in there.

It doesn't matter to those that choose staggered.
