so opti coat does not need to be applied at all anymore once u do it the first time? that seems to be an awesome bargain?....so basically you just have to use high pressured water and not any shampoo at all forever? considering that the dirt is on the layer =/..not on the paint?...

and what is our 86 classified as ?...new car - medium car?

Cheers for that.... I was unsure if i would get it because i will be tracking the car alot and due that the bonnet etc will probably see plenty of gravel rash but im sold on it....

Does it say anywhere that extra waxing can damage the opti coat because ill get my car detailed about once a month anyway...

2 coats of the opti for me, just gotta find someone good at it in Perth...

I Agree with Nambo....

Rob Tait in Ringwood is really good....always attention to detail and a great guy.

He has done all my cars so far and for my last one watched him work his magic on my family car.

Ive booked him for next Tuesday and its the first FT86 he is doing ......

highly reccomended

Talked to a mate and he recommended Tint-a-car for tint and a place for paint protection/detailing called Finalinspection (www.finalinspection.com.au). Anyone know if these guys are any good?

Contacted a guy here in Perth regarding the Opti-coat/Opti-guard. Apparently there's only ONE guy in Perth that can do this. Just emailed him, getting a quote.

X pack - apparently the best they offer...its a combination of both life time paint warranty + interior seat and plastic (if they deform or u spill some coffee onto the seat, they can clean it up for u)...the price originally SHE SAID was 19xx, she is offering for 14xx or some thing...

Lifetime paint - covers only bird turd and tree seed plant oils and stuff that may harm your paint...and SHE SAID was 14xx, but giving me for 800-900 i forgot...

Life time Rust protection - i forgot original price...but she said giving me for 800-900

Tint with warranty - 450-500 i forgot

My story - i ordered the GT manual....i don't exactly remember the figures cuz i DONT plan to buy these...like come ON, if you have bird crap on ur car, just wipe it immediately right?... DOES ANYONE here recommend in getting the above? except for the tint?
I wasn't going to get any treatments on my 86 but decided to in the end. I managed to get the Paint+Fabric+Dash and Window Tint for $1230 which includes lifetime warranty.

The tint was going to cost me $275 at my local tinter so $950 for all the protection seemed like a good deal to me.

I've had new cars with and without the paint protection. I must admit the paint did seem to look better on the car with paint protection after 3 years.

If you look after your car, wash regularly with wash and wax products and wax the car every 6 months to seal the paint you dont need the dealer's magic potion sealant. Id love to be a fly on the wall and watch them actually apply the stuff. If its a $900 product that legitimately works, im sure there is more to applying correctly than just wiping it on. Furthermore, if thats the case, I doubt every dealership in Australia has the right people to do the jop properly. Especially if Perth only has ONE guy that applies the opti-coat stuff.

Sorry guys, they're taking you for a ride.

I just realised, on top of Protection, security is kind of lacking in this car. I don't believe it comes with a siren alarm from what I've seen. In fact, there's no audible beep like most Toyotas when you activate the smart key lock.

How much do alarms go for these days?
