Everything Tint & Car Protection....

Just a thread for people to get info about what prices to expect paying for Tint, Car protection inside and out, Opinions on what car wash/wax to use etc for us in Aus and NZ.. Even

how to apply correctly, do it yourselves if we have any professional detailers frequenting the forum and want to share there knowledge.....

I expect to pay around $300 MAX for tint... How do u rate tint again?, its by number isn't it?.... 40 is legal, anything under is not?

I remember the ute had 15 on the sides and 5 on the back.... I'll probably stick with 10 all round on the 86, possible 20 on the rear otherwise at night u cant see shit apart from

headlights, or blue and red flashing lights....

Whats everyone else doing? Is anyone going to be game to tint the windscreen??? Yes i know, totally illegal....... :bonk:
I might do a 60-70 reflective on the front....

Also how high does tint rating go before its totally clear?

One last thing, how do u grade good quality tint from shit?, Thickness?, Brand names if there are any?

Hopefully once these questions are answered it will help others not to be given shit tint that lifts and bubbles after a few years..

In regards to car wash, wash, wax and interior cleaning & protection i only use Auto Glym.... Its pricey but shit, they have a cleaning product for EVERYTHING u could imagine wax wash or wipe... http://www.autoglym.com/enau/

But always interested in new stuff or brands people have compared it with and think theres may be better......

i remember when i had to give my old Charade a black paint job with spray cans..... thought it was funny to spray the back window black too, until i had to reverse park

okay guys....from the dealers quote which i got today:

X pack - apparently the best they offer...its a combination of both life time paint warranty + interior seat and plastic (if they deform or u spill some coffee onto the seat, they can clean it up for u)...the price originally SHE SAID was 19xx, she is offering for 14xx or some thing...

Lifetime paint - covers only bird turd and tree seed plant oils and stuff that may harm your paint...and SHE SAID was 14xx, but giving me for 800-900 i forgot...

Life time Rust protection - i forgot original price...but she said giving me for 800-900

Tint with warranty - 450-500 i forgot

My story - i ordered the GT manual....i don't exactly remember the figures cuz i DONT plan to buy these...like come ON, if you have bird crap on ur car, just wipe it immediately right?... DOES ANYONE here recommend in getting the above? except for the tint?

Side note - she told me the 86 is currently the only car in the toyota range THAT offers BLUE illuminated lights...my question is, does anyone have a photo of this? does it look nice? does it only SHINE when you open the door? and it stops once u close the door for 5 seconds? similar to honda accord?

The ones that i bought were 1400 SAT NAV, 550 for the rear reversing camera, 500 for additional alarm...is this a rip off? she said she can't give a discount on these? did anyone talk intensively about add ons and paint, rust protection stuff with dealers out there for your baby 86 :)?

For those that want the best paint protection and never EVER want to have to WAX your car - I suggest you go these guys.

I'm getting tint done by tint a car for $295 for their Octane package. I got quoted by a detailer $665 for Paint cleanup, swirl removal, opti-guard coat, cloth interior protection and vinyl interior protection.

For the Victorians,

I've used Rob Tait at Car Tint (CarTint.net.au) for my Impreza. He does an outstanding job and the guys at the AU WRX Club can vouch for his work as well (WRX Club Forums).

He's based in Ringwood, so quite a drive from the *** but with EastLink it's a pretty quick drive.

He takes a couple of hours to apply the tint and does none of the dodgy shortcuts some big Tint corporations do (e.g. slicing the tint where the window meets the sill, rather than taking the door trim off and tinting the whole window).

You're welcome to stick around his workshop and chat to him while he does he's magic, he has loads of experience in the industry, is a big fan of JDM cars and all round nice guy.

As a treat you might even see his Ferrari there too (last picture on the front of his website).

The tinting was about $600 for my Impreza. Although a bit pricey, in my opinion it was money well spent.
