Since your video is from inside the car, it's kinda hard to tell what that is, but to me, it doesn't sound like a rod bearing. Didn't notice if you had listed if it was an auto or manual trans, but if it's a manual, it almost sounds like something inside the bell housing or possibly a starter solenoid (depending on how these starters are designed/work). Have you checked all the pulleys on the front of the engine? Keep us posted........

I agree. Whatever it is, it is something mechanical in the engine and is covered under warranty.
The guy you spoke to on the phone was either wrong or misunderstood you

Any check engine lights came on? If so pull out your code reader, (buy one it's about $60-80) and see what's the problem.
That's if you haven't already towed it to a shop or not. If the engine does sound like that in the video, then it's not looking good. Also. Depends what mods you have on the car. With only 43k your in warranty. If one dealer gives you lip, take it to another.

As far as the original question goes, I agree with the overall sentiment. Get it towed to the dealership. |

Yes, if a major warranty repair is done near the end of the factory warranty period, the factory (or the dealership) might offer some extended coverage as a customer accomodation. But the original factory warranty is time-and-mileage specific. Having a component replaced does not restart the clock on the original factory warranty. |

"is 2nd engine also covered? or is that different? Meaning if my original one dies, will 2nd be covered all over again to 50k?" The answer is yes and no, the new engine will most likely come with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. The same as if you purchased a new engine or part from the dealership. If you bought a new alternator from the parts department and it broke the next day would you expect them to tell you to pound sand? My experiences have been with Dodge and Chevy not Toyota or Subaru but I would expect a very similar experience. The "extended warranty" that I speak of is not on the entire car but the parts and service that were provided. Same warranty as if you were a paying customer and you paid the service department to do the work. I never said your warranty starts over. |

There may be no added coverage, or some limited additional coverage. As you suggest, 12K would not be an unusual accomodation. |
