Very true, everyone. Hadn't thought about it dissipating energy through breaking the cheap(er) bits to save the important stuff

I make up 112% of what I say.

Look up the prices of forged wheels, keep it at 17x7

Then the car suddenly spun completely around with rear going out TO THE RIGHT!

After reading these stories and experiences of people who track these cars a lot, I think what happened was the Electronic DIFF stepping in when it detected wheel spin.
The system would have applied the brakes to ONE of the rears when it detected it stepping out (wheels slipping).
PRECISELY THE WRONG thing to do in the situation.

SO when you say traction completely OFF, it is never 'completely off'.

I meant the sneaky part where you hold the button down until it goes away. What stays on?

*sigh* pedal dance, guys. It's real.

No, the long press does not actually shut it off. Allegedly they changed that on the 2017.

Pedal dance? And now damn, I'm curious how to defeat it even though I swore I'd leave it on!

...but at least read through the first few pages. Practice somewhere safe because there truly will be nothing between you and the actual car.

You know, like the old days.

Honestly, unless you are willing to pay more for less weight, it probably won't matter much.

In a situation like this, you cast wheel cracked, if you had forged wheels and the exact same thing happened, instead of cracking, it would bend but still not be road worthy.

You would still have to tow the car, bin the damaged wheel. So all you are doing is spending more money to save weight.

I believed someone mentioned here that its the quality of metal used rather than the manufacturing process that determines how much force a wheel can take before its rendered unusable.

I think they're having a group buy on that right now. Only 25 more people and you get 5% off in six months when they ship.
