Not sure that's what was being suggested... but we'll have to wait and see.

"It sounds like a must-have for anyone considering tracking their car, but Northerners should be warned, as there’s no such package available in Canada."

^ That agrees with what I got from the media relations guy at Subie Canada on the phone. Send an email to the product manager listed on the Canadian press release as I did - if they get enough demand they may relent.

This bit was music to my ears:

These changes deliver a slight change to the engine’s sound — it sounds like it just cleared its throat after being choked up and nervous the first few years of its life.

Given the current 90 F here in Toronto, that weather looks pretty attractive atm....

Edit: never mind
Because it's wearing a maple leaf and says "aboot" and "eh?" a lot.

I have never in my life heard a Canadian who said "aboot" - it's used by a tiny minority of Newfoundlanders, who comprise less than 0.2% of the population. It's like judging all American English on the basis of the heavy Southern red-neck drawl of the rural poor in West Virginia or North Carolina - which I admit is fun to do!

I say it sometimes but it is in reference to a very specific item.

British people use aboot to describe the trunk of their car, or something.

I went to Canada once. It was like America, but prettier, cleaner, and boring.

I think Canadians have thin skins in regard to Canadian jokes. It has something to do with bathing daily in maple syrup.

If I go to the local Tim Hortons, what should I order?

Yes their coffee is surprisingly decent for commercial dreck.

Mind you if you visit Toronto there are as many good coffee bars/cafes in the city as Seattle now. Just avoid the chain-dominated suburban no-go zones.

It is this which makes me believe that the Performance package will come to Canada at a later date: "Those looking for more confidence in a sports car, however, can get the new performance package, which includes an even sportier suspension and bigger brakes. It sounds like a must-have for anyone considering tracking their car, but Northerners should be warned, as there’s no such package available in Canada. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to test the new package yet. Wait for it to arrive later this year."

For the Canadians... what was the original news regarding the Hyper Blues? Was that information released the same time as the US release? Obviously the cars arrived later than in the States. Hoping for those in the north, that the PP follows a similar path.

Looked it up. Subaru America press release was July 1, 2015 for the Hyper Blue limited editions and January 13, 2016 for Subaru Canada.
