one thing I know about Treadstone is it will be premium parts. there kits are never cheap but you get what you pay for. Therefore its awesome there adding the FR-S to there product line!

Even I know of the ms3 blowing engines. When I was in the market for a fwd turbo car I was going to get a ms3. That is until I went to their forums and read about all of the engines blowing and Mazda not warranting them if they didn't do all of their oil changes at the dealership.

Anytime you deal with adding boost to a motor, especially one not designed for it, you run the risk of breaking something.
If these guys will replace any motor they break -- keeping in mind that it could certainly break shortly after an otherwise successful build when not "in their care", then I say go for it. I'd also ask about expected down time... you may not be driving your new car for several months if this is being built and tested from scratch... |

Treadstone is a legit company worked with them before, trolling customers isn't the best business practice, but their parts are awesome quality.

Let me google that for you.
Uh....I have no idea what is going on in this thread, but MS3's crap rods if you look at them crosseyed. I spent a year and a half developing products for the MZR2.3DISI engines and they are nightmarish at best. Too long of a stroke and too low of a rod to stroke ratio and failure prone DI pumps = Zoom Zoom Boom. Not to say that you can't build one properly and get ridiculous amounts of power out of them. And damn they're fun cars. Of course, you end up looking like Popeye after driving one for a year. That torque steer is a bastard. The original quip it seems was against someone who has a Mazda3 though, not an MS3. J Last edited by Jason@Nameless; 06-21-2012 at 12:07 PM. |

![]() Good save with your post, hopefully the mods will give you a fresh start by killing this thread and letting you start with that post instead. Tell us more about your plans for the BRZ/FRS/GT86 Turbo Kit. I'm certainly interested in hearing more. Any thoughts about pistons? I know some of the other companies out there have developed some great upgraded pistons for direct injected engines: http://www.stangtv.com/features/sema...ction-are-you/ Jason |

OP...what kind of boost do you expect the donor car to hold? Are you going to touch the engine or is this going to be a "bolt-on" kit with the existing 12:1 CR? Engine management ( I would assume it would be stand alone since no openECU)? Bigger fuel injectors?
This an awesome deal for any service member about to deploy, have the car (hopefully) done by the time you get back. Good luck with the donor car and your R&D!

Is Treadstone not able to purchase a car? Just sell it after you are done with the testing.

Ha. I meant too short of a rod, too long of a stroke. o_O
And you had to quote me!! It's immortalized! :-D I think the MZR2.3DISI is like 1.59:1 Rod to Stroke Ratio and the MZR2.5 is 1.50x with a 100mm stroke. It's like a block wall cannon. J |
