Is a turbo from road race motorsports or any place(no ebay kits) worth the money in the car? I am thinking about putting it in my car after it is paid off and I am done backpacking Europe/Asia.

I am between getting a kit and putting it in my car for my "daily driver" and my weekends off at the track. But the question, is it worth putting the kit in or is it better buying a factory turbo car? I do not where this belongs but I am not talking about Subaru nor Toyota, so I think this is the right place.

Adding forced induction to any engine not made for it is going to be a huge PITA. I would wait for a factory setup.

edit: My 2 cents: Priorities should be Stop Turn Go. Upgrade your brakes first. Then upgrade your handling. THEN, and only then (for safety reasons, and for technique reasons) upgrade your hp.

Yeah I just drive a dull Suzuki SX4. I like the car but it is only for college and probably keeping it afterwards to give to my kids or whatever. But it will be paid off next year, and I only got 40,170 miles on it.

I hadn't really decided on what I am going to do with it after college. So I was asking a question that should I put a turbo in it, or buy a car(BRZ/FRS) after college with a decent downpayment so my monthly payments will be super low. I hadn't decided yet, but I am thinking of FRS because I already work at a Toyota dealership. Just pondering the thoughts.

No matter what you do to your SX4, aside from some MAJOR work, it will never behave like an 86. The 86 won't be much faster, but it will be a lot more fun to drive.

If I were in your shoes, assuming you can afford the payments and don't need the extra room of the Suzuki, I'd go with the 86.

I already know I need to a lot of work if I want to improve my car. But there are some things the FRS can't do. I go out surfing/paddleboarding in San Diego, so I have boards with me like 24/7. The extra room is nice when I have to move boxes around. I was thinking of keeping the Suzuki after it is paid off, and get a FRS and keep my Suzuki at my dad's place in San Diego.

I might see it differently than you but $4400 to power your little grocery getter is a huge waste of time and $.

I never brought it. I was thinking of it, but I have money going towards Europe/Asia for 4 months so I was thinking of just new car afterwards.

I'm in China for 6 months, had to sell my Mz3 to get here, buying a car when I get home again. Looking into a 2009+ WRX.
